摘要: An intruder-resistant latch useful for latching an aircraft flight deck door includes a damper for reducing noise while the door is being operated. The latch also includes a driver member having coated pins that reduce noise while the latch is in operation. The latch allows a flight deck door to be operated with minimal disturbance to a flight crew at work and/or crew members who may be resting. The latch is fabricated of ballistic impact-resistant material(s).

摘要: A door latch mechanism mounted in a door frame cooperates with a door bolt separating the cockpit compartment on an aircraft from the passenger compartment. The mechanism prevents a hijacker from entering the cockpit compartment and allows the door to open rapidly when a catastrophic decompression event occurs in the airplane.

The first layer is made of a plurality of metallic members with a portion of the metallic members having one or more channels adapted to receive one or more armor panels. The second layer is made of the channels of the metallic members and armor panels disposed within the channels. The door also has one or more pivotally attached panels to the door that are adapted to open at a preselected pressure differential across the door. The door is also available as a kit.

摘要: A security barrier made up of a specially constructed bulkhead and a novel security door hingedly mounted within the security bulkhead that provides substantial protection against assault by potential aggressors. The security barrier can be used in various types of sensitive areas, but is particularly well-suited for use in commercial aircraft to separate the passenger compartment from the pilot's compartment and thereby protect the pilots compartment from assault by terrorists and other armed aggressors. The bulkhead is made up of a plurality of sealably interconnected armor protected panels that effectively thwart access to the pilots compartment via the bulkhead. The security door is of a laminate construction that is hingedly mounted within the security bulkhead and uniquely comprises a movable portion movable from a first position to a second position upon the detection of a pressure differential between the passenger compartment and the pilot's compartment. The security door further includes a restraint mechanism for controllably restraining the movement of the movable portion of the door assembly. In one form of the invention, the restraint mechanism includes at least one elongated engagement member, such as an elongated cable, that is carried by the door assembly for engagement with the movable portion of the door assembly

摘要: A security screen device for protecting persons and property is provided. The security screen device comprises an enclosed screen housing defining a screen receiving area. A screen material made of high strength fibers is receivable within the screen housing in an undeployed condition with the screen material having a first edge and a second edge. The first edge is secured within the screen receiving area and a weighted bar is secured to the second edge of the screen material. An activation mechanism opens one side of the screen housing releasing the screen material from the housing into a deployed condition such that the second edge of the screen material travels in a direction generally away from the enclosed screen housing thereby pulling the screen material from the enclosed screen housing.

摘要: A lightweight ballistic resistant rigid structural panel especially for use in aircraft interiors is disclosed. The rigid structural panel is made up of a core layer including a plurality of sheets of flexible, high-tensile strength fabric interleaved with a plurality of sheets of a thermal-fusible film adhesive, and a sheet of cushioning material adhered to the plurality of sheets of flexible, high-tensile strength fabric. Fiber-reinforced face skins are adhered to exterior surfaces of the panel core for structural strength and rigidity. The rigid structural panel is capable of resisting ballistic attack from handguns and like weapons, while maintaining a high degree of strength and rigidity.

摘要: The invention comprises a monitoring and incident management system for an aircraft including an on-board system on the aircraft, an incident management center on the ground, and a redundant secure communications link between the on-board system and the incident management center. The on-board system includes components that assist the aircraft crew in identifying and defending against potential threats to the aircraft, such as suspicious passenger activity. The incident management has access to a wide variety of information concerning the aircraft and activities taking place on the aircraft, as well as the ability to transmit commands to the on-board system. The on-board system includes a cockpit door module that combines double-doors and biometric identification to prevent unauthorized access to the cockpit.
