Abstract: 928,895. Vehicle window regulators. WILMOT-BREEDEN Ltd. June 19, 1961 [June 18, 1960], No. 21503/60. Class 20 (3). Opening and closing mechanism for a vertically sliding and vertically curved vehicle window 1 comprises a window support channel 9 in which slides a ball-ended lifting stud 17 attached to the end of a lifting arm 7 which is pivotally mounted on an axis B-B inclined to the longitudinal axis C-C of the window and is attached to a toothed segment 12 driven by a pinion 13 mounted on a manually rotatable shaft 14. The toothed edge of the segment 12 is dished so that its teeth lie in a plane normal to the axis D-D of the drive shaft 14. The weight of the window is counterbalanced by a spring 25 which is connected between a back plate 5 and the segment and surrounds the pivot axis of the segment and arm 7.

Abstract: 631,131. Brakes. TELEFLEX PRODUCTS Ltd., and PILE, S. July 16, 1946, No. 21256. [Class 103 (i)] [Also in Group XXIV] In locking devices for irreversible transmissions, more particularly those employed in raising and lowering gear for sliding windows, of the type in which a spindle 3 drives a wheel 19 and is associated with a helical spring so arranged that when the spindle drives the wheel in either direction the spring is contracted so as to be freed from a fixed cooperating surface, but if the wheel reacts on the spindle in either direction the spring is expanded to grip the surface and thus prevent movement, a driving dog 11 formed on a plate 18 passes with clearance 'through a slot 10 in a hub 4 driven by the spindle, and the spring 12 encircles the hub and engages with the interior of a fixed housing 15 in which the hub is mounted, the ends 20 of the spring being turned down into the slot to engage on either side of the dog and when so engaged being spaced from the walls of the slot. The spindle may be actuated manually or by power means. Specification 631,130, [Group X], is referred to.
