    Abstract: A closure assembly for a motor vehicle includes a closure member, a guide track and a carrier operably secured to the guide track for movement along the guide track and carrying the closure member therewith. A rack has a plurality of teeth and extends along the guide track. A pinion gear is carried by the carrier and has teeth engaging the rack. A motor is operably connected to the pinion gear to selectively move the closure member from one position to another. The carrier includes at least one engagement member biased into engagement with the guide track to prevent binding of the carrier with the guide track and to maintain contact between the pinion gear and the rack.

    Abstract: A dual rack and pinion system is provided for a window lift mechanism. The window lift mechanism includes improved window brackets for simple mounting to a window. A modular frame design is provided to improve assembly of the window lift mechanism into the door of a vehicle. An improved assembly method is provided for the dual rack and pinion system. The system is also provided with a smart motor and incorporates resilient shock absorbers in the dual rack and pinion gear train to allow more time for the smart motor to detect and react to an obstruction in the window.

    Abstract: A vehicle window regulating apparatus is designed to move a window glass in a door on the side of a passenger seat up and down by operations of a remote contol switch installed on the door on the side of a driver seat. A relay is provided on a power supply line for supplying electric power to a motor in the door on the passenger seat side. This relay and the remote control switch are connected by way of a signal line and is of a diameter smaller than that of the power supply line. With operations on the remote control switch, switching signals are supplied to the relay via the signal line, and the relay is thereby turned on and off so as to supply electric power to the motor via the power supply line, so that the window glass is moved upward or downward. In the prior art apparatus, the motor on the passenger seat side is remote-controlled via the power supply line, but the present invention performs the remote control of the motor on the passenger seat side and can therefore achieve a reduction of power supply loss.
