    摘要: A process for achieving a uniform flow profile of very viscous liquids when flowing through tubes or reaction chambers, wherein the very viscous liquid is passed through annular spaces extending concentrically with increasing diameter over the entire cross-section of the tubes or reaction chambers and having the same depth in the direction of flow, and this procedure is repeated once or several times, the annular spaces being staggered with respect to each other as viewed in the direction of flow, and an apparatus consisting of a combination of two or more discs arranged at axial intervals within a tube transversely to the direction of flow, each disc consisting of a plurality of ring-shaped bands of increasing diameter, the bands being arranged freely of one another and concentrically at intervals on a grid supporting means to provide correspondingly concentric open spaces between the bands over the entire cross-section of the tube, with the walls of the bands running parallel to the direction of flow, and the bands of the separate discs being staggered with respect to each other as viewed in the direction of flow.

The restrictor comprises a series of rows of baffles placed in the path of fluid flow, with the baffles in succeeding rows staggered with respect to those in adjacent rows so that as the fluid flows, it is constrained to change its direction repeatedly. The restrictor is preferably constructed with an increasing cross sectional area along the direction of flow. One suitable physical construction comprises a plurality of thin circular plates with a central bore, arranged in a stack. Each plate has a baffle pattern formed on one or both sides, for example, by etching. Fluid flow is from the central bore, between adjacent plates, to the circumference of the stack.

    摘要: A noise suppressor for reducing noise resulting from venting of large volumes of high pressure gas. A first pipe member has an open first end, adapted for attachment to a high pressure gas outlet, and a closed second end. A plurality of second pipe members are attached to the first pipe member sidewall and communicate through openings in that sidewall with the interior of the first pipe member. Within the second pipe members a number of plates are positioned, each having several parallel elongated slots therethrough. The plates within each second pipe member are slanted, with the direction of slant alternating between consecutive plates. Preferably, the consecutive plates are rotated 90.degree. and the elongated slots are slanted with respect to the plate surfaces. A further plate member is provided normal to the second pipe member longitudinal axis. The noise suppressor can be coupled to the high pressure gas outlet by valves or directly. The noise suppressor substantially reduces the noise of the venting higher pressure gas.

    摘要: A fluid Flow Restrictor especially suitable for reducing the pressure of gases or liquids is described.     摘要: A fluidic throttling valve for controlling flow in a pipe or conduit of a high density fluid, such as a liquid, by injecting a lower density fluid, such as an inert gas, into the pipe. In the preferred embodiment shown herein, this control gas is injected into a pipeline leading to a combustion engine to control the quantity of liquid flowing through that pipeline. The control gas is injected through a slot extending completely around the circumference of the pipe. The gas is injected at the throat section of a venturi constructed in the pipe to define a point of minimal cross-sectional area.

    摘要: A method and fluid flow device for increasing the rate of flow of a fluid by inducing angular velocities in the flow entering the device thereby to reduce the upstream static pressure, and carrying the angular velocities through the device where it is nullified before leaving the device, thereby to increase the downstream static pressure. Reducing the static pressure of the fluid entering the device and increasing the static pressure of the fluid leaving the device results in two forces of acceleration tending to increase the rate of flow through the device. In one embodiment, the device is a venturi-type nozzle having a forward set of baffles in the converging section and a rear set of baffles in the diverging section, and in another embodiment, the device is a teardrop-shaped flow restriction in a conduit and has a forward set of corrugated baffles and a rear set of corrugated baffles.
