Abstract:
This disclosure depicts a clamp device in a measuring instrument wherein a slider having a detecting portion is clamped to a guide member, comprising: a holder provided on the slider and penetrated therethrough with the guide member; a movable block received in the holder and having a through-hole, through which the guide member extends; a screw member threadably coupled into the movable block; and a rotation locking mechanism for locking the movable block. Rotation of the screw member causes the forward end face thereof to contact the guide member, so that the slider can be clamped.
Abstract:
A sliding caliper comprises a scale having a front end defining a measuring edge, a slide movable over the scale and having a readout display and a measuring tip depending from said scale and having an axis of symmetry passing through the measuring edge.
Abstract:
A clamp device of a height gauge for clamping to a support a feed box connected to a slider through a fine movement means. In this clamp device, a lever, one end portion of which can abut against the support, is rotatably supported by the feed box, and a biasing means for biasing the lever to abut the aforesaid one end portion against the support is provided between the lever and the slider, whereby a moment to tilt the feed box does not act on the feed box even when the lever is grasped to release the clamping, so that the feed box and the slider can be moved smoothly.
Abstract:
Gauge for the dimensional checking of a piece being machined, comprising a movable gauging arm fixed to an outer casing, through a pin and a bushing. A spring coupled to the arm and to the outer casing acts on the pin and the bushing for univocally defining an axis, stationary with respect to the casing, for the rotation of the gauging arm.
Abstract:
A coupling device is provided for coupling the movable member of a machine to a potentiometer to convert sliding movement of the member into proportionate movement of potentiometer. The device includes a first rod which is attachable to the movable machine member and a second rod which is connectable to the potentiometer. A ball-shaped slide is attached to the first rod and a planar abutment is attached to the second rod. The glide piece and the abutment are in abuting contuct with one another. A biasing spring is provided which applies pressure, in a working direction, to the glide piece to thereby maintain the glide piece and the planar abutment in intimate engagement with one another. This arrangement forms a joint connection between the first and second rods which enables transmission there between of only translational movement.
Abstract:
A linear scale type measuring instrument comprising a hollow case, a linear scale housed in said hollow case and a slider movable along said linear scale, wherein at least part of a travel guide mechanism of the slider includes bearings rotatably supported on the slider and a guide bar being circular in cross section, supported by said hollow case and in abutting contact at the outer peripheral surface thereof with portions of rotating surface of the bearings.
Abstract:
A gauge for checking linear dimensions of mechanical parts comprises a support, a movable gauging arm, a transducer coupled to the movable arm and the support, and a helical spring defining a longitudinal geometrical axis and having a first end in abutment with the movable arm and the second end in aubtment with a movable element of an adjustment device for adjusting the force applied by the spring to the gauging arm, the device comprising a screw coaxial to the spring and arranged within the spring coils, and a stanchion which controls a translation movement of the movable element along an axis substantially coinciding with the spring axis, translation movement of the movable element changing the axial length of the spring and, consequently, the force it applies to the gauging arm.
Abstract:
An improved optical transducer includes optical transmitter and receiver heads and an encoder plate movable therebetween on channel-shaped tracks integral in part with an inner housing. The encoder plate, and optical heads are disposed in an optical fluid which minimizes light refraction between those optical components, cushions against shock and vibratory loading, and lubricates the encoder plate tracks. The transducer includes an input shaft connected to the encoder plate by means of a coupling which isolates the encoder plate from misalignments of the input shaft and eliminates free-play in the connection between the encoder plate and input shaft, thereby eliminating backlash in the reciprocation of the encoder plate for improved transducer accuracy.
Abstract:
An LVDT displacement transducer and a probe actuation arrangement integrated into a probe assembly. The probe assembly includes a tubular housing within which is mounted at one end an LVDT and within the other the probe actuation arrangement. In the preferred embodiment, an air pressure actuator arrangement is utilized and comprises a stepped diameter probe extension shaft having a smaller diameter section joined to the LVDT core element, and extending through a bulkhead bushing into a pressure chamber, the larger diameter section of the shaft passing out through the opposite end of the housing and serving to mount the probe sensor contact. The differential diameter of the stepped probe extension shaft is subjected to air pressure via an air fitting communicating with the air chamber and which acts against a return spring to enable self actuation of the probe extension shaft and attached core element. In one alternate version, the stepped probe extension shaft is prevented from rotation for applications requiring a fixed orientation of the probe shaft and includes the provision of a small roller bearing moving within a longitudinal slot formed in the bulkhead bushing. In another embodiment, the probe shaft is extended by a spring rather than air pressure. LVDT transducers of shorter gaging range than the probe displacement are also disclosed, creating either pretravel or overtravel of the probe shaft.
Abstract:
In a measuring instrument for measuring or adjusting the relative position of two objects, including a measuring scale, a movably mounted sensor housing unit and an elongated hollow body which is resistant to bending and encloses the measuring scale and the movably mounted sensor housing unit to protect them from environmental influences, at least one ball joint for fastening the hollow body to one of the objects to be measured. According to one of the embodiments, two spheres are positioned at a fastening means at one end of the hollow body and a single, centrally-located ball joint is provided at a fastening means at the other end.
