Abstract:
A measuring device having a flange extending from a rule portion at one end and an ergonomic module on the other end. The ergonomic module has side surfaces which angle at the same angle as side edges of the flange to permit the measuring device to be supported on the side surfaces during use. A magnet may be encapsulated in the ergonomic module for supporting the measuring device when not in use. A thumb depression is formed in the ergonomic module to facilitate use by the user
Abstract:
A jig assembly for marking a cabinet with hole positions that are needed to install hardware. The jig assembly utilizes a reference plate. At least one matrix of holes is formed through the reference plate. The holes are used to make markings at different positions and distances. The holes are preferably identified with scale indicia that provide visual indications as to the positions of each of the holes. Arms are attached to the reference plate with pivot connections. Marking holes are disposed through the arms. The arms can rotate and extend from the reference plate in opposite directions. A top plate is positioned across the top edge of the reference plate. The top plate creates a guide. A side plate is positioned across a side edge of the reference plate. The side plate creates a second guide that intersects the top plate at a perpendicular.
Abstract:
Disclosed here are methods, devices, paradigms and structures for wiring a picture frame, and for generating user defined templates for hanging picture frames wired using the device in various layouts. The device allows the maker of the frame to install a hanging wire to the frame at a predefined position, for example, at a predefined distance from a top edge of the frame. A spring-loaded peg mounted on a flat slab, at a predefined distance from a wall member of the device, allows wiring the frame such that the apex of the wire is at the predefined distance from the top edge of the frame. The frame is placed in the device with the top edge of the frame adjacent to the wall member. The flat slab is configured to move vertically on a channel guide mounted on the wall member to accommodate varying thickness of the frame.
Abstract:
A measuring device for measuring and inspecting various linear dimensional properties of a machined groove in a workpiece includes a fixing base, a measuring assembly, and first and second positioning members received through and protruding from the fixing base at right angles during the movement of the measuring assembly. The measuring assembly includes a measuring member, a shim, and an elastic member, the shim sleeves on an end of the measuring member, and the elastic member resists between the shim and the fixing base. The measuring assembly, together with the first positioning member and the second positioning member, enable the required depth and relative position of the machined groove to be accurately determined and inspected.
Abstract:
A jaw-mounted magnet accessory is provided for being coupled to a caliper measuring jaw. The jaw-mounted magnet accessory includes a magnet configuration and a mounting arrangement interface. The magnet configuration includes at least one magnet that produces a magnetic field that extends from an operational face of the magnet configuration. The jaw-mounted magnet accessory is configured to locate the operational face of the magnet configuration proximate to the workpiece engagement surface of the caliper jaw so as to hold a workpiece (e.g., made of ferrous material) against the workpiece engagement surface. Utilization of the magnetic field to hold the workpiece in flush alignment with the workpiece engagement surface makes it more convenient to handle small or thin workpieces and/or may increase the accuracy and repeatability for measurements of some workpieces.

Abstract:
A measuring instrument includes a display that displays measurements. The display is provided by an organic electroluminescent display device or an electronic paper including an assembly of organic EL (Electro-Luminescence) devices. Since the display is provided by the organic electroluminescent display device or an electronic paper including an assembly of organic electroluminescence devices, visibility of the display can be enhanced. Further, since the display can be used for various measuring instruments in common and the display design can be easily changed, production cost can be reduced.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for identifying locations for holes for a stackup of parts. In one illustrative example, a required edge distance for a hole for the stackup of the parts is identified. A measurement tool is selected based on the required edge distance identified for the hole. The measurement tool comprises a circular section having an edge and an indicator centrally located with respect to the edge of the circular section. The edge of the circular section of the measurement tool is associated with a part in the stackup of the parts. A location on the part for a center of the hole for the stackup of the parts is identified using the indicator.

Abstract:
An embodiment of the invention is directed to an electronic caliper which combines positioning and measurement in one unit without the use of hydraulics for subsea use. In certain embodiments, several attachments can be affixed to accommodate a range of measurement tasks. In a preferred embodiment, one jaw is adjustable and the other, or opposing, jaw is fixed, e.g. by bolting it on to a mounting structure. The jaws typically allow for the removal and replacement of other attachments. In another embodiment, the unit communicates to computer software for position control, precise indication and clamping for adjustment. In a preferred embodiment, computer software displays all feedback via laptop computer on surface. The caliper is maneuvered to a position proximate an object and used to measure a predetermined physical characteristic of the object. The measurement can be displayed, e.g. at the surface, using a computer with control software.
