    摘要: A method and apparatus for selectively applying image enhancement processing to parts of an image. In one embodiment, spatial processing transformations, such as sharpening for example, are reduced or bypassed for pixels having color code values within a range known to be adversely affected by the spatial processing transformations. In another embodiment, color correction processing transformations are bypassed for pixels having color code values within a neutral color range. These neutral colors may have a gray-correction transformation applied in order to better separate the neutral colors from the other colors. According to another embodiment, color code values for pixels are transformed to two or more different color spaces. If a color correction transformation will have adverse affects on a pixel in one color space, corrected data from a different color space can be utilized for the pixel.

For the input image data of the non-picture image format, a color conversion is performed with values of C, M and Y colors made minimum and a value of K color made maximum, when values of all of the R, G and B colors are minimum, and, for the input image data of the picture image format, a color conversion is performed with the values of the C, M and Y colors set to temporary values slightly smaller than the maximum values thereof when values of all of the R, G and B colors are minimum. Final C, M, Y and K colors are obtained by performing the Black-Generation and Under-Color-Removal processing for the temporary values.

    摘要: The technique of the present invention carries out color conversion of first image data expressed by a first color system into second image data expressed by a second color system. The procedure first collects multiple adjoining pixels of the first image data into one block, and calculates a tone difference of the first image data in the block based on the first image data of the respective pixels. When the calculated tone difference is less than a preset value, procedure carries out collective color conversion without discrimination of the respective pixels included in the block. This enables the high-speed color conversion. When the calculated tone difference is not less than the preset value, on the other hand, the procedure carries out color conversion by a unit of each pixel included in the block. This prevents deterioration of the picture quality. The technique of the invention thus ensures the high-speed color conversion without deteriorating the picture quality.

The color processing section executes optimum or intended color processing for color data in the image memory, referring to a color correction table and a halftoning processing table respectively corresponding to its attribute data and generates image reproduction data. Accordingly, arbitrary color processing can be realized by a controller composed of light hardware.
