摘要： This invention is designed to prevent luggage from being stolen from airports. It uses a number of various size coinciding threaded receptacles and threaded rods to prevent theft. Luggage secured with this system should only be handled by the owner who has the matching threaded rod. If a thief removes a piece of luggage from the conveyer he will have no idea what size rod he needs to match the receptacle. And it must be attached immediately. So anyone that removes luggage from conveyers or handles it without the correct key inserted onto the receptacle should be considered a suspected thief.

摘要： A conventional barrel-type combination lock receives a lock element extending from a safety pin housing. The safety pin housing pivotally receives a pin that pivots between an open position and a closed position. When the pin is placed in the closed position relative to the safety pin housing, and the lock element of the barrel-type combination lock is moved to the locked position, the end of the pin is positioned within a pin receiving recess on the barrel-type combination lock so that the pin is locked in the closed position. A conventional chain formed from a series of interlocking links is utilized with the lockable safety pin to enable small articles to be locked to fixed objects. When the chain is not in use, it is stored within a cylindrical chain storage container that is threadedly received upon the end of the barrel-type combination lock. With the pin closed and the combination lock in the locked position, and with the chain positioned within the storage container and the storage container threaded onto the lock, the personal locking device is of a size convenient for carrying in a purse or pocket of the potential user.

摘要： A latching device for luggage is described, wherein a latching member having a hasp engaging angled finger is rotatably mounted in a frame member. A spring member rotatably mounted atop the latching member has a key receiving recess, a locking tab for preventing rotation of the latching member, serves to urge the latching member against the base member and yieldably holds a ball in recesses in the base member. A hasp has a boss with a curved slot for receiving the hasp engaging finger on the latching member. A cover plate is rigidly attached to the latching member and is rotatably disposed on a base member which has a raised rib. A side wall of the cover plate rides across the rib camming the latching member and angled finger upwardly against a wall of the slot to draw the hasp and latching device toward each other.

摘要： A hardware assembly, which is readily adaptable to luggage cases of widely varying constructions, dimensions and configurations, includes a housing which may be positioned within cut-outs in adjacent edges of the side walls of the luggage case, and be mounted on the exterior of one side wall. The housing contains slideable latches for engaging associated hasps mounted on the exterior of the other side wall, and a flexible member connecting the latches to a slideable actuator mounted on the housing for opening the case. The coupling between the latches and the flexible member allows the latches to move to unlatching position independently of the actuator to facilitate closing and latching of the case when the parts are brought together. The actuator is U-shaped and supported for transverse movement on the housing by a rocker located within the housing. A combination lock, which may have its combination changed by a push button projecting through the top of the housing, may be included for preventing movement of the actuator necessary to open the case.
