Abstract:
A device for applying an embossing to a web of tissue paper (12) comprises a full width anvil roller (14) and a plurality of small widths embossing rollers (16) which are rotationally movable around rotational axes which run parallel to the rotational axis of the anvil roller. The embossing rollers (16) have a width which is substantially smaller than the width of the anvil roller (14) and can be individually positioned against the anvil roller.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a die stamping method and to a device for performing the method. The problem of the invention is to reduce the production of waste during die stamping. This is brought about in that on supplying the foil web to the stamping station a sensor means monitors whether there is a defect therein. If a defect is detected, the foil web supply to the stamping station is controlled in such a way that the defect is conveyed through the stamping station between two stamping operations. Thus, the defect does not arrive in the stamping or printing area of the stamping station, so that no waste is produced.
Abstract:
A novel paper article, a method of making a paper product, and an embossing roll are disclosed for providing a paper surface region having a minority of fiber to fiber bonds broken in the paper surface region to a depth less than about 0.02 mm from the paper surface. In one aspect, the roughened embossing roll includes protuberances or depressions sized at less than about 0.1 mm. In one aspect, the roughened embossing roll includes protuberances or depressions adapted to produce paper product surface deformations in the paper surface, wherein the paper product surface deformations are invisible to an unaided human eye. The present invention provides a paper product having higher perceived softness while maintaining tensile strength.
Abstract:
An alternative stamp die is designed with tapered areas and non-tapered areas to provide for a longer lived stamp die while avoiding the problems associated with slug pulling.
Abstract:
An embossing roller that both embosses and combines sheet materials such as paper or the like. The invention eliminates the need for separate embossing and combining operations. A relief pattern is defined on the surface of the roller such that the relief pattern can be embossed onto multiple ply sheet material by compressing the material against another surface. At least a portion of the raised surface of the roller that defines the relief pattern is provided with projections that combine the multiple plies of the multiple ply material.
Abstract:
Method of producing a paper having a three-dimensional pattern of alternating raised and recessed portions which has been provided in connection with impulse drying, at which the wet paper web (10) is passed through at least one press nip (12) comprising a rotatable roll (13) which is heated and that the paper web during the passage through the press nip is given a three-dimensional pattern of alternating raised and recessed portions either by means of a pattern wire, band or belt and/or by a pattern on the heated roll (13) and where the paper web (10) after said press nip (12) is led around an essential part of the periphery of the heated roll (13) in order to provide an additional drying of the paper web while this is still in contact with said three-dimensional pattern.
Abstract:
A printing press comprises a cylinder having an outer surface and a plurality of air holes for providing air to the outer surface. A sound-damping material is located on a section of the outer surface and an axially-removable printing sleeve fits over the outer surface. Also disclosed is a method for reducing noise from a printing press comprising the steps of providing air through air holes in a cylinder having a free end to aid in placement or removal of an axially-removable printing sleeve, and providing a sound-damping surface to an outer surface of the cylinder at the free end.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for producing an embossed PVA film, which includes embossing the film such that the crystallinity index of the emboss top is 0.50-0.90. According to the present invention, an embossed PVA film superior in resistance to blocking even when preserved in a roll state, in appearance to show high quality of products, and in resistance to pinholes can be provided.
