    摘要： A method and apparatus for counting yarn splicing operations for each of the spindles in an automatic winding machine provided with a plurality of winding spindles and an automatic knotting machine and in which relative motion of said spindles and said knotting machine causes the knotting machine and successive spindles to be adjacent each other for carrying out a yarn splicing operation when necessary. A pulse signal is generated each time the knotting machine and a spindle are adjacent each other during the relative motion of the knotting machine and the spindles, the pulse being of relatively short duration when the knotting machine is adjacent a spindle for a time insufficient to carry out a splicing operation. The apparatus discriminates between the long and short duration pulses for each spindle, and the long duration pulses for each spindle are counted as an indication of the occurrances of a splicing operation for that spindle.

    摘要： There is disclosed a hand-held apparatus for attaching tags to merchandise. Apparatus according to the invention uses a fastener assembly having a plurality of fasteners. Each fastener has a bar section and a button or head section joined by a filament section. Each bar section is connected to a common runner or rail by a respective neck or connector. The apparatus causes one fastener at a time to be severed from the connector at the intersection of its bar section and the respective connector. The bar section of the severed fastener is pushed by a push rod through an elongated bore of a needle while the filament section passes along a side opening in the needle which communicates with the needle bore. Fastener assembly advancing means includes a toothed member and a movable member. In one embodiment, a pawl member includes a first flexible resilient arm having a tooth at its free end portion cooperable with the toothed member and a second flexible resilient arm connected to the pawl member, cooperable with a guide and movable with the pawl member. In another embodiment, relatively movable slides are coupled by a lost-motion connection. A one-piece pawl coupled to one of the slides has a tooth cooperable with the toothed member and a flexible resilient arm cooperable with a guide for urging the tooth into cooperation with the toothed member.

    摘要： To determine if a thread pick-up device, to pick up broken or run-out thread in thread spooling machines, has located therein only a single strand of thread, the thread is passed through a test gap which provides pulses each time the test gap senses that a discrete strand of thread is passed therethrough, the pulses being applied to a counter, the counter controlling operation of the device so that, if a ONE count is received, the thread has been properly picked up; if no count, or more than one count have been received, the thread pick-up operation is controlled, for example, by repeating the pick-up operation, or cutting the thread at the end of the pick-up operation, and repeating, to ensure presence of only a single thread in the pick-up device. Sensing of the thread becomes, therefore, independent of yarn size, thickness, or localized changes in diameter.
