摘要： A suture assembly, including a button having two apertures and a suture defining a lumen and forming a double loop, formed by a double trap having a first end and a second end, opposed to the button. A first portion of the suture is threaded through the trap from the first end to the second end, and a second portion of the suture is threaded through the trap from the second end to the first end. The assembly further defines a first single trap, in which the first portion of the suture is threaded through the lumen between the second end and the button. Also defined by the assembly is a third trap, in which the second portion of the suture is threaded through the lumen between the first end and the button. Finally, the double loop is threaded through the two apertures of the button.

摘要： Apparatus for forming a knot, the apparatus having a first pathway for receiving a first element, and a second pathway for receiving a second element, the first pathway having a configuration which corresponds to the path to be followed by the first element and the second pathway having a configuration which corresponds to the path to be followed by the second element, respectively, in order to form a knot; a shuttle for moving the second element; and a mechanism for moving the shuttle through the second pathway, whereby, when the first element is received in the first pathway and the second element is connected to the shuttle, movement of the shuttle through the second pathway causes the second element to be moved through the second pathway so as to form a knot around the first element.

摘要： An orthodontic flosser comprising an elongated handle and a head coupled to the handle is disclosed. A projection extend for suspending floss is sized for insertion of floss between a wire affixed to a tooth and the tooth. A source spool of fresh floss is configured to feed fresh floss incrementally into suspension from the projection while a take-up bobbin is configured for taking up used floss and applying tension to the suspended floss. A button may be used for releasing the source spool to rotate, and for holding the source spool against rotation. The source spool and take-up bobbin may be disposed in separated chambers to reduce cross contamination. A retie flange in the take-up bobbin and a retie slot in a take-up chamber are configured for retiying broken floss around a spindle of the take-up bobbin.

摘要： A knot tying system is presented containing a feeding mechanism, a knot tying device, and a clamp. The feeding mechanism has a drive roller and an idle roller capable of guiding a wire. A truck is connected to the end of the wire, and fed into a guide track, fixed relative to the feeding mechanism. The guide track provides a curved track in the shape of a knot desired. The track has a tube having a wire extraction slot running along the length of the tube, an intersection region where an outer portion of the guide track intersects an inner portion of the guide track, and a slit through the inner portion of the guide track substantially at the intersection region. A sensing and control system may also be present.
