    摘要: Process for removing sodium sulphate from an aqueous citrate, adipate or phosphate buffer solution used for absorption of SO.sub.2 from exhaust gases, by evaporating an aqueous buffer solution at atmospheric pressure at a temperature near its boiling point, thereafter separating the precipitated sodium sulphate and optionally subjecting it to further treatment to recover accompanying buffer salt. The further treatment may consist in a treatment of the precipitated sodium sulphate together with accompanying buffer salt with water at elevated temperature. The solution which is then obtained is mixed with the rest of the buffer solution.

    摘要: Alkali metal sulfates are converted to a sulfur-free form by dissolving the alkali metal sulfate in water to produce an aqueous solution containing alkali metal ions and sulfate ions at a pH below about 8, and then passing the solution through a weak base, anion exchange resin having bicarbonate ions associated therewith that exchange with the sulfate ions so that the sulfate ions become associated with the resin and the bicarbonate ions become associated with the alkali metal ions in the solution. The resin can be regenerated to the bicarbonate form by treatment with an ammonium hydroxide solution followed by contact with carbon dioxide and the regeneration by-products are commercially useful.

    摘要: A process for purifying organically polluted salts comprising forming a melt of said salts at a temperature of from about 600.degree.to 1000.degree. C., and contacting salt melt with an oxygen-containing gas. Acidic or basic fluxes may be present. The heat to maintain the mass molten may be supplied by electrodes which dip into the melt and which may be hollow so oxygen can be introduced therethrough. A suitable apparatus is also described.

    摘要: A process is described for the removal of oxides of sulfur, dust and mist from a combustion waste gas such as the waste gas evolved from a glass melting furnace in which the waste gas is contacted with an absorbing solution containing an alkaline absorbent such as NaOH, Na.sub.2 CO.sub.3 or Na.sub.2 SO.sub.3, whereby the oxides of sulfur are absorbed and the temperature of the waste gas is decreased and the humidity of the waste gas in increased. The treated waste gas is then passed through a glass fiber filter which is maintained under moist conditions in order to efficiently remove dust and mist particles from the waste gas. Crystalline sodium sulfate hydrate is recovered from the absorbing solution contacted with the waste gas.
