摘要: Various resistivity logging tools, systems, and methods are disclosed. At least some system embodiments include a logging tool and at least one processor. The logging tool provides transmitter-receiver coupling measurements that include at least direct coupling along the longitudinal tool axis (Czz), direct coupling along the perpendicular axis (Cxx or Cyy), and cross coupling along the longitudinal and perpendicular axes (Cxz, Cyz, Czx, or Czy). The processor combines a plurality of the coupling measurements to obtain inversion parameters. Based at least in part on the inversion parameter, the processor performs an inversion process to determine a vertical conductivity and, based in part on the vertical conductivity, determines borehole corrected values for said transmitter-receiver coupling measurements. One or more of the borehole corrected values can be provided as a function of borehole position.

摘要: Various embodiments include apparatus and methods to utilize signals acquired from a multi-component induction tool operating in a wellbore. The acquired signals can be correlated to an apparent conductivity of a formation and mapped to components of the apparent conductivity tensor conductivity. A multi-stage inversion scheme can be implemented to determine three-dimensional formation parameters from operating the multi-component induction tool. 摘要: A number of toroidal ferromagnetic cores for an inductor may be arranged to form a ferromagnetic multi-core array, through which a calculated sequence of wire turns is wound. The array may be structured within certain permitting geometries, to a preferred geometrical shape for use within a downhole tool. The array of cores can take any practical form, include square, rectangular, hexagonal, circular, or the like, as long as the magnetic fluxes of all coils wound about a given core create a magnetic flux within the core that flows in the same direction within the core.

摘要: A method for obtaining gain compensated electromagnetic logging while drilling propagation measurements includes rotating an electromagnetic logging while drilling tool in a subterranean wellbore. The tool includes a plurality of transmitter antennas and a plurality of receiver antennas symmetrically spaced along a logging while drilling tool body with the transmitter antennas including at least one axial transmitter antenna and at least one transverse transmitter antenna and the receiver antennas including at least one axial receiver antenna and at least one transverse receiver antenna. Electromagnetic voltage measurements are acquired from the receiver antennas while rotating. The acquired voltage measurements are processed to compute harmonic voltage coefficients. Ratios of selected ones of the harmonic voltage coefficients are in turn processed to compute gain compensated quantities including symmetrized and anti-symmetrized quantities.

摘要: Interrogation tools and methods are used to efficiently locate cable behind casing. The interrogation tool has at least one electromagnetic transmitter and receiver. An electromagnetic field is emitted from inside the tubular, whereby it interacts with the tubular and cable to produce a secondary electromagnetic field. The secondary electromagnetic field is measured by the receiver(s) from at least two different positions inside the tubular to produce corresponding response signals. The interrogation tool then compares the response signals to baseline response signals, whereby the position of the cable is determined. The electromagnetic measurements can be acquired simultaneously or sequentially.

摘要: Evaluation of formations and fracture characterization based on multicomponent induction (MCI) log data includes automated calculation of biaxial anisotropy (BA) parameters by performing iterative inversion operations based on the MCI log data. Biaxially anisotropic effect corrected (BAC) logs are BA anisotropic effect corrected using the inverted BA parameters. The inverted BA parameters can also be used for identification and quantification of fractures in formations.

摘要: Disclosed embodiments include methods and apparatus for ranging techniques to detect and determine a relative distance and azimuthal direction of nearby target well conductors such as pipes, well casing, etc., from within a borehole of a drilling well. A nearby casing string of a target well can be detected by transmitting an electromagnetic signal from an excitation source located along the target well and measuring a response signal with an antenna on a downhole logging tool in the drilling well. Several different excitation sources for various target wells are utilized to distinguish nearby conductor signals from formation signals. Joint]inversion algorithms are utilized to identify multi]well locations on the basis of measured signal responses from the different excitations sources. The joint]inversions may be implemented in real]time or during post]processing, and used in applications such as SAGD, anti]collision, and relief well development.
