    Abstract: A computing device, such as a desktop, laptop, tablet computer, a mobile device, or a computing device integrated into another device (e.g., an entertainment device for gaming, a television, an appliance, kiosk, vehicle, tool, etc.) is configured to determine user input commands from the location and/or movement of one or more objects in a space. The object(s) can be imaged using one or more optical sensors and the resulting position data can be interpreted in any number of ways to determine a command. During a first sampling iteration, a range of pixels can be identified from a location of a feature of the object, with the range used in sampling from the at least one imaging device during a second iteration based on the data sampled during the first iteration.

    Abstract: An electrosurgical system is provided for the treatment of tissue, the system comprising an electrosurgical generator (1) and an instrument (3) comprising an instrument shaft (10) having a longitudinal axis, and an electrode assembly (12) at one end of the shaft. The electrode assembly (12) comprises a first tissue treatment electrode (11), a second tissue treatment electrode (14), and first and second return electrodes (24, 25) electrically insulated from the first and second tissue treatment electrodes by means of insulation members (12, 15). The first and second tissue treatment electrodes (11, 14) each have an exposed surface for treating tissue, the exposed surface of the first tissue treatment electrode (11) being such as to treat tissue disposed on the longitudinal axis, and the exposed surface of the second tissue treatment electrode (14) being such as to is treat tissue disposed laterally of the longitudinal axis. The instrument has a first set of connections (62A, 62C) by which the first tissue treatment electrode (11) can be placed in circuit with the first return electrode (24) such that, in use, a current path is established between the first tissue treatment electrode (11) and the first return electrode (24). The instrument has a second set of connections (62B, 62D) by which the second tissue treatment electrode (14) can be placed in circuit with the second return electrode (25) such that, in use, a current path is established between the second tissue treatment electrode (14) and the second return electrode (25).

    Abstract: An electrosurgical system includes a generator for generating radio frequency power, and an electrosurgical instrument including at least three electrodes and. The generator includes a radio frequency output stage having at least a pair of RF output lines, and a power supply coupled to the output stage for supplying power to the output stage. A controller is operable to limit the radio frequency output voltage developed across the output lines to at least a first predetermined threshold value to produce a cutting RF waveform, and a second threshold value to produce a coagulating RF waveform. In a combined mode, the controller delivers both cutting and coagulating waveforms, either simultaneously or by alternating constantly between the first and second threshold values to form a blended signal. The system also includes means for feeding the waveform to the three or more electrodes such that the cutting RF waveform is delivered between a first pair of the electrodes, and the coagulating waveform is delivered between a second pair of the electrodes.

    Abstract: A process for reacting in a fluid bed reactor at least one oxidisable reactant with molecular oxygen in the presence of a catalytically active fluidised bed of solid particles. In the process a molecular oxygen-containing gas having an oxygen concentration greater than that of air is introduced into the fluidised bed whilst the fluidised bed is maintained in a turbulent regime. The process is suitable for oxidation, ammoxidation and carboxylation processes, including the production of maleic anhydride, acrylonitrile, ethylene, acetic acid and vinyl acetate.

    Abstract: A touch screen which uses light sources at one or more edges of the screen which directs light across the surface of the screen and at least two cameras having electronic outputs located at the periphery of the screen to receive light from said light sources. A processor receives the outputs of said cameras and employs triangulation techniques to determine the location of an object proximate to said screen. Detecting the presence of an object includes detecting at the cameras the presence or absence of direct light due to the object, using a screen surface as a mirror and detecting at the cameras the presence or absence of reflected light due to an object. The light sources may be modulated to provide a frequency band in the output of the cameras.
