A method of providing discovery information of an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) bootstrap entry point is provided. The method includes listing at least one piece of ESG bootstrap characteristic information for an ESG bootstrap proper for a status of a terminal, creating a Management Object (MO), which connects the ESG bootstrap entry point with said at least one piece of ESG bootstrap characteristic information and transmitting the created MO to the terminal through an interactive channel.

A method for receiving a broadcast service through a plurality of terminals in a mobile broadcasting system supporting the broadcast service is provided. The method includes sending a registration request message for requesting registration of each of a plurality of terminals from a server associated with a broadcast service, receiving a registration response message from the server in response to each registration request message, sending a service request message to the server through one terminal of the plurality of terminals to request that the broadcast service be provided to the remaining terminals, and receiving, by the remaining terminals, a service response message from the server and the broadcast service.
Abstract:
A GEM OAM frame transmission method used in a Gigabit-capable passive optical network is provided. The method defines an OAM frame structure in a GEM mode of the Gigabit-capable passive optical network and enables an OAM to be achieved even when the GEM mode is operated. The method comprises the steps of: constructing a GEM OAM frame including a GEM header field and a GEM payload field, the GEM header field containing OAM representation information indicating that the GEM OAM frame contains the OAM information, the GEM payload field containing the OAM information; and transmitting the constructed GEM OAM frame in order to enable the ONU/ONT to perform an operation according to the OAM information.

Disclosed is a method for constructing a frame of data for transmission by each Ethernet device in a synchronous Ethernet, which comprising the steps of receiving the data for transmission and confirming whether or not the data for transmission are synchronous data, when the received data are synchronous data, marking that the data are synchronous data in a preamble of the frame and constructing a synchronous frame by including the received data into a data portion of the frame which does not contain a MAC header and when the received data are asynchronous data, marking that the data are asynchronous data in the preamble of the frame and constructing an asynchronous frame by including the received data into a data portion of the frame containing a MAC header.

A method is provided for performing handover by a terminal in a digital broadcasting system. The method includes measuring strength of a received signal from a serving broadcast transmitter while receiving a broadcast service, and comparing the measured strength of the received signal with a predetermined reference value; periodically measuring strength of the received signal while continuously receiving the broadcast service when the measured strength of the received signal is greater than the reference value; sending a handover start request message for the broadcasting system to a base station of a mobile communication system when the measured strength of the received signal is less than or equal to the reference value; and performing handover from the serving broadcast transmitter to a target broadcast transmitter upon receipt of an accept message for the handover start request for the broadcasting system from the base station.

A method and apparatus for transmitting data from an optical network unit (ONU) to an optical line termination (OLT) in a Gigabit Ethernet passive optical network (GE-PON) on the basis of a time division multiple access (TDMA) scheme are provided. A measurement of a data transmission time when the data is transmitted to the OLT is obtained, and the measured data transmission time is compared with a predetermined normal transmission time. The transmission of the data is maintained if the measured data transmission time is determined to be less than or equal to the normal transmission time from the comparison result. However, if the measured data transmission time is determined to be greater than the normal transmission time, the transmission of the data is stopped.

An asynchronous data segmentation/transmission method for synchronous Ethernet and a data structure used therein are disclosed. The asynchronous data segmentation/transmission method can segment and transmit asynchronous data such that the asynchronous data can be transmitted through a transmission frame for each transmission cycle. The method for synchronous Ethernet includes the steps of: a) comparing a size (L2) of asynchronous data to be transmitted with a size (L1) of transmission space vacant in an asynchronous frame part of a transmission frame, b) inserting the asynchronous data to be transmitted into the transmission space if the size (L2) of the asynchronous data is equal to or less than the size (L1) of the transmission space, and c), if the size (L2) of the asynchronous data is larger than the size (L1) of the transmission space, segmenting the asynchronous data to fit the size (L1) of the transmission space to insert the segmented asynchronous data thereto, and inserting remaining asynchronous data (L2-L1) into a next transmission frame. The transmission frame includes a More flag field for indicating asynchronous data segmentation/transmission.

Disclosed is a DVB-H CBMS system by which a user can continue to view a program being in service even when the transport stream or IP platform changes while the user views the program. In the DVB-H CBMS system, the system transmits service mapping information according to transport streams or IP platforms to the terminal, so that the system can provide a service without interruption to the terminal even when a user of the terminal moves out of a current cell or network into a new cell or network while receiving a service that the user selected.

A light concentrator for an optical antenna gradually narrows from the light receiving end to the end in contact with a light detector, and has a refractive index that gradually increases from the first to the second end, to afford a greater acceptance angle for the incoming optical signal. The increase may occur in stages of corresponding layers of the light concentrator, the layers being arranged in order of increase in refractive index from the first end to the second end.
