    Abstract: Emulating as supported web browser feature when a webpage is merely testing for web browser support of various features. Frequently a web page may test for support of various features of a web browser. The present technology prevents the unnecessary and premature initiation of supported features saving a user time from having to authorize its use in addition to saving the valuable system resources (e.g. memory, power, etc.) before the supported features are actually needed by the webpage. By emulating or spoofing support of various features of a web browser, the user of a computing device can be spared authorizing use of the various features, and spared the extra power consumption of initializing the various features that may not be used.

    Abstract: The described embodiments perform a proximity unlock operation. For the proximity unlock operation, a first electronic device in a locked operating state detects that an authorized second electronic device is in proximity to the first electronic device. Based on detecting the authorized second electronic device in proximity to the first electronic device, the first electronic device transitions from a locked operating state to an unlocked operating state. In the described embodiments, the transition to the unlocked operating state occurs without the user performing a manual authentication step that is performed in existing electronic devices to cause the transition from the locked operating state to the unlocked operating state.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus of a device that captures a stackshot of an executing process is described. In an exemplary embodiment, the device detects an interrupt of the process occurring during the execution of the process, where the process execution can be in a kernel space and user space, and the interrupt occurs during the user space. The device further determines whether to capture a stackshot during the interrupt using a penalty function. If the stackshot is to be captured, the device captures the stackshot and saves the stackshot.

    Abstract: A dictation computer that includes a fan speed regulator is described. The fan speed regulator monitors a speech recognition unit to determine when the speech recognition unit is activated. Upon detection that the speech recognition unit is activated, the fan speed regulator ducks the speed of a cooling fan embedded within the dictation computer to an optimized speed of rotation over a delay time interval. The fan speed regulator may include components to adapt the optimized speed and delay time to the characteristics of the dictation computer and the user. Other embodiments are also described.
