Abstract:
Copolymer encapsulated wax particles and their use in forming toner compositions having particles with a desired circularity and size are provided.
Abstract:
A method of drying wet toner particles includes adding different sized wet toner particles to a dryer drying chamber and drying each of the wet toner particles for a drying time TD. The drying time TD can vary for each toner particle and is proportional to the mass of the wet toner particle. The method can also include introducing a heated drying gas into the drying chamber to create a circulating flow of drying gas. The method also includes adjusting the pressure and/or velocity and/or angle of the heated drying gas to control the amount of deagglomeration of the toner particles.
Abstract:
A process which comprises mixing a carrier core with a polymer core and polymer shell and wherein the polymer shell is present as a coating on said core and said polymer core, wherein said polymer core is generated by emulsification of and heating of monomer forming a seed latex; adding a portion of said seed latex to said emulsification mixture, followed by heating and adding another second portion of said seed latex; and wherein said shell is generated by emulsion polymerization of a monomer, followed by heating.
Abstract:
An electrophoretic display liquid composition for use in an electrophoretic display device that has a multiplicity of individual reservoirs, each containing the display liquid of two sets of particles dispersed in a transparent liquid system as well as at least one charge director dissolved or dispersed in the liquid system, or physically embedded on the surface of the particles or chemically bonded on the surface of the surface of the particles, the two sets of particles exhibiting different, contrasting color and different charging properties from each other. The charge director(s) is preferably a metal salicylate compound. The particles may be modified with charge controlling agents, and may also include a set of magnetic particles. The transparent liquid system may include two immiscible liquids having different densities with the sets of particles having densities in between the densities of the two immiscible liquids such that the particles rest at an interface between the two immiscible liquids.
Abstract:
The latex of an emulsion aggregation toner is prepared without the use of a surfactant. The process comprises preparing an emulsion of monomers in water without a surfactant; adding a free radical initiator to at least a portion of the emulsion to initiate seed polymerization to form seed polymer, wherein the free radical initiator attaches to the seed polymer to form ionic, hydrophilic end groups on the seed polymer; and adding additional monomer to the composition to complete polymerization to form a latex polymer.
Abstract:
A process for the preparation of toner which comprises (1) aggregating and coalescing in the presence of a coagulant an encapsulated colorant, and (2) blending with at least one toner.
Abstract:
A copolymer of styrene and an acrylic ester wherein the acrylic ester has an alkyl group with three or fewer carbons or is an aromatic acrylic ester and may be used to form toner particles having reduced vinyl offset.
Abstract:
An aqueous ink jet ink composition comprised of water, colorant, and colored resin emulsion particles generated from olefinic monomers, wherein at least one of said olefinic monomers contains a colorant, wherein the olefinic colorant component is prepared from the condensation reaction of a functional colorant with an olefinic containing reactive material, and which reaction generates: wherein Dye represents a colorant chromophore, and R is a carbonyl, carboxylate, oxygen, or arylene, and R′ is hydrogen or alkyl.
