    摘要: A printing apparatus and method for printing receipts and for controlling the cutting of each receipt in succession from a recording medium such as print paper at an appropriate position determined from the print data received from a host computer. The printing apparatus 50 prints first print data representing transaction information with a paper cut command appended thereto and second print data representing additional information from print data received from a host computer 40. A first control unit 521 prints the first print data and delays executing the paper cut command added to the first print data when first print data is received from the host computer. When print data is received while execution of the paper cut command is delayed, a print data detection unit 522 determines the type of print data received based on the presence or absence of an identifier in the received print data. If the received print data is recognized as second print data, a second control unit 523 prints the received second print data and then executes the paper cut command. If the received print data is determined not to be second print data, the second control unit 523 executes the paper cut command before printing the received print data.

    摘要: A recording apparatus having a print head control apparatus containing an IC drive control circuit utilizes at least two shift registers having N single bit registers with respective data input terminals sequentially switched to receive print data wherein, at any one print cycle, one shift register is storage for current print data and the other shift register is storage for past print data so that, on the succeeding print cycle, the latter shift register receives new print data and the former shift register becomes the holder of past print data. When one of the shift registers provides output for the current print data to the thermal print head drivers, the other shift register is employed for referencing the past print data, i.e., comparing current and past print data. Thus, the function of shift registers are sequentially switched to control the drive data output to the thermal elements of the print head based on past print data history. Logical circuitry is employed comprising gate circuits for referencing or comparing the current print data with past data history relative to each individual thermal element of a plurality of N thermal elements. At least first and second strobe signals are provided having respectively first and second pulse widths which may be individually or collectively applied to each respective individual thermal element for application of current print data based upon its past print data history over one or more preceding print cycles.

    摘要: A print controlling apparatus for a thermal printer which is adapted to print with a thermal head having a plurality of heat generating elements on thermal paper or on non-thermal paper or thermal ink ribbon, is provided. The print controlling apparatus includes a processor for processing data to be printed and then outputting the data. A head control circuit devices coupled between the processor and thermal head for converting the data to be printed output from the processor to energizing signals for selectively heating the heat generating elements. The heat control circuit device includes a timing mechanism for providing at least two predetermined energizing intervals. A storage mechanism stores the present print data and at least one previous print data. A gating circuit coupled to the timing mechanism and storage mechanism produces energizing signals for each of the heat generating elements by logically combining the predetermined energizing intervals and present print data and previous print data.

    摘要: A thermal printer for printing on a printing sheet. A print head with print elements opposes a platen and the printing sheet is located between the print head and platen. A head up-down mechanism for moving the print head toward and away from the platen has a biasing mechanism, a head release mechanism, and a change mechanism. The biasing mechanism includes an elastic member for urging the print head against the platen at least two levels of biasing force in the head down position. The head release mechanism selectively relieves the biasing force on the print head. The change mechanism effects selection between at least two levels of the biasing force produced from the force generated by the elastic member. The biasing force is related to the head movement speed or sheet movement speed. The energy applied to the print elements is based on the biasing force. A detection of the smoothness of the paper results in a variation in the biasing force on the print head.

    摘要: A printer having a print command circuit adapted to provide a print command signal, to thereby begin each print cycle is provided. The printer further includes a character ring having print characters circumferentially positioned therearound, each print character being selectively positioned by rotating the character ring from a rest position to a print position in response to the print command signal. The improvement comprises a single position detection circuit for generating character selection timing pulses representative of each rotational position of the character ring and being further adapted to produce return timing pulses in response to the opposite rotation of the character ring when same is returned to its rest position. Improved circuitry is provided for sensing the last pulse of said return timing pulses, utilizing same to supply a print-off pulse to the print command circuit to indicate the completion of the print cycle.
