Abstract: To employ beamforming to increase signaling distances, one wireless device trains a beamformer using a signal being received from another wireless device. The trained beamformer can then communicate with the other device via a signal beam until channel conditions change. In example implementations, a base station (BS) reserves an air interface resource unit for beamformer training in conjunction with allocating an air interface resource unit for downlink data. The BS transmits a downlink control channel communication to a user equipment (UE) with a downlink data grant indicative of the allocated resource unit. During the reserved resource unit, the UE transmits an uplink tracking communication, which can include a pilot signal, to the BS for beamform training. The BS then uses the freshly trained beamformer to transmit the downlink data as a downlink data channel communication via a downlink beam during the allocated resource unit.

Abstract: A computing device is described for performing local interference avoidance, when supporting concurrent voice and data transmissions, and with access to multiple radios. The computing device predicts when coexistence issues will occur from maintaining independent voice and data transmissions using separate radios. To avoid local interference issues, the computing device automatically switches to operating a different combination of radios, making local interference less likely to occur. In some cases, the computing device may consolidate the voice and non-voice data exchanges to occur using a single radio. In some cases, rather than consolidation, the computing device may move the voice or the non-voice data exchange to a different radio as a way to avoid the local interference.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes systems and methods directed to mitigating a local interference condition caused by concurrent transmissions in a multi-radio access technology and multi-connectivity environment. For a user equipment transmitting data in a multi-radio access technology/multi-connectivity environment, an interference manager application directs the user equipment to determine that an interference condition exists local to user equipment. The interference manager application directs the user equipment to determine a configuration of the user equipment wireless-communication hardware to mitigate the local interference condition and directs the user equipment to transmit a request message to a base station, causing the base station to configure wireless-communication hardware of the base station to receive data transmitted by the user equipment in accordance with the determined configuration of the user equipment wireless-communication hardware that mitigates the determined local interference condition.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and apparatuses for a user equipment (UE)-coordination set for a wireless network. In aspects, a base station specifies a set of UEs to form a UE-coordination set for joint transmission and reception of data intended for a target UE within the UE-coordination set. The base station selects one of the UEs within the UE-coordination set to act as a coordinating UE for the UE-coordination set and transmits a request message that directs the coordinating UE to coordinate the joint transmission and reception of the data intended for the target UE. Then, the base station transmits a downlink signal to each UE within the UE-coordination set. Each UE within the UE-coordination set demodulates and samples the downlink signal and then forwards the samples to the coordinating UE, which combines the samples and processes the combined samples to provide decoded data.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and devices for dynamic capability reporting based on position. A user equipment (UE) determines its current radio capability responsive to detecting a change in its position. If the current radio capability at a current position differs from a previous radio capability at a previous position, the UE modifies its radio capability based on the current position and informs a wireless communication network of the modification. The UE can inform the wireless communication network of this radio capability change using a tracking area update (TAU) message, a radio-link failure message, a reconfiguration failure message, or an attach-procedure message. The dynamic capability reporting enables the UE to change its radio capability as it moves to different positions that have different levels of network coverage within a same tracking area (TA) or a same radio access network (RAN) notification area.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and apparatuses that include a three-dimensional (3D) antenna module for transmitting or receiving electromagnetic millimeter waves (mmWaves). In general, a user equipment (UE) may include the 3D antenna module in a corner of a housing of the UE. The 3D antenna module may include three antenna panels that are generally planar and generally orthogonal to three respective axes of a Cartesian-coordinate system. The 3D antenna module may transmit and receive the electromagnetic mmWaves as part of a wireless link between the UE and another device, such as a satellite that is part of a wireless-communication network. In general, the 3D antenna module may mitigate propagation losses and allow the UE to maintain a link-budget for the wireless link.

An Access and Mobility Function-Aggregation Proxy (AMF-AP) (218) connects one or more WLAN networks (206) to the cellular core network (110) of a network operator via the Access and Mobility Function (AMF) (212) in the core network (110). The AMF-AP (218) acts as a proxy and a firewall to protect the AMF (212) and other entities in the cellular core network (110) from malicious actors.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes techniques and systems for beam search pilots for paging channel communications. In some aspects, a user device receives, from a base station of a wireless network, a beam search pilot on a beam. The user device determines that a signal quality of the beam search pilot meets a signal quality threshold. Based on this determination, the user device transmits, to the base station, an indication that the beam search pilot meets the signal quality threshold. The user device then receives a paging channel communication on the beam provided by the base station.

In one aspect, a method includes obtaining first network load information that indicates network load for a first access point operating using listen before talk (LBT) and second network load information for a second access point using LBT, determining if at least one of the first network load information or the second network load information satisfies a network load threshold, and in response to determining that that the network load information satisfies the network load threshold, providing an instruction to the first access point to operate using frequency domain multiplexing.
