    Abstract: A system in accordance with an example is to assign a display color to a pixel to be displayed, to achieve an apparent desired color at a local neighborhood node of pixels having an apparent color bit depth greater than an addressable color palette for the display color that the pixel is capable of producing. The display color is assigned to the pixel based on a convex combination of colors of the local neighborhood node of pixels, to provide the desired color for the node based on local optical averaging.

    Abstract: There are disclosed techniques for error diffusion for printing.
    For example, there is disclosed a device comprising a pixel selector, to select a pixel from an image to be printed, wherein the pixel is associated to a group of device state probabilities, wherein each device state probability describes a probability of choosing a particular device state, wherein each device state describes the quantity of each colorant to be used in correspondence of the pixel.
    The device may comprise a device state determiner, to choose the device state for the selected pixel on the basis of the device state probabilities associated to the selected pixel. The device may comprise a feedback chain, to diffuse device state probability errors to pixels to be subsequently selected. The feedback chain may include a selected pixel error determiner, to determine device state probability errors for each device state probability of the selected pixel. The feedback chain may include a neighbouring pixel selector, to choose neighbouring pixels among the pixels to be subsequently selected. The feedback chain may include a neighbouring pixel error modifier, to modify, for each neighbouring pixel, the determined device state probability errors according to criteria conditioned by metrics and/or classification data associated to the selected pixel and/or a group of previously selected pixels and the relative position between the neighbouring pixel and the selected pixel. The feedback chain may include an error diffuser, to diffuse the modified device state probability errors to the neighbouring pixels.

    Abstract: Certain examples relate to a method of color matching by confirming a color-rendering device. Color reproduction parameters are determined for a reference and target color-rendering device. A color matching parameter is determined for the target color-rendering device based on a comparison of the color reproduction parameter for the target color-rendering device with the corresponding color reproduction parameter of the reference color-rendering device. The color-rendering device is confirmed dependent on the color matching parameter. Color resources of the target color-rendering device are configured such that a rendering of a color image on the target color-rendering device replicates a rendering of the color image on the reference color-rendering device.

    Abstract: Certain examples relate to the processing of spot colors within a printing pipeline. In these example, a palette of spot colors indicated in a print job is determined. The palette is mapped to a set of vectors in a colorant-dependent color space based on a comparison of target spectral characteristics for the spot colors and measured spectral characteristics of the printing system. The set of vectors is used to assign vectors to print-resolution areas of the print job before halftoning.

    Abstract: A computing device receives first data indicating a first metric of a first printed test area and second data indicating a second metric of a second printed test area. The computing device generates third data associating a color in a color space with the first plurality of Neugebauer Primaries or the second plurality of Neugebauer Primaries in dependence on the first metric and the second metric.
