Abstract: An exemplary embodiment of the present invention provides a touch apparatus including: a touch panel including a plurality of first touch electrodes arranged in a first direction and a plurality of second touch electrodes arranged in a second direction crossing the first direction; a driver configured to apply a first driving signal to the first touch electrodes during a first period and a second driving signal to the second touch electrodes during a second period subsequent to the first period; a receiver configured to receive a detection signal from the second touch electrodes during the first period, and a detection signal from the first touch electrodes and the second touch electrodes during a third period subsequent to the second period; and a controller configured to determine a touch position based on the signal outputted from the receiver.

Abstract: A touch input device for detecting a touch pressure including: a display panel; a pressure sensing unit to detect the touch pressure; a pressure sensor controller connected to the pressure sensing unit; and a first PCB. The pressure sensor is formed on the display panel. A first connection line pattern having a first access portion formed at one end is formed on the first PCB. The other end is connected to the pressure sensor controller. A conductive trace which extends from the pressure sensor and includes a second access portion formed on one end is formed on the display panel. The first access portion of the first connection line pattern and the second access portion of the conductive trace are connected to each other by a conductive adhesive member disposed between the first access portion of the first connection line pattern and the second access portion of the conductive trace.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a smartphone includes a first cover layer; an LCD panel located under the first cover layer; a backlight unit located under the LCD panel and comprising a reflective sheet and a second cover layer; and a capacitive touch sensor; wherein the backlight unit further comprises a pressure sensor and a spacer layer, the pressure sensor comprising electrodes attached on the second cover layer and spaced apart from the reflective sheet; wherein a touch position is detected by a sensing signal output from the touch sensor; wherein a magnitude of a touch pressure is detected based on a change amount of capacitance that is changed according to a distance between the pressure sensor and an electrode located within the LCD panel; wherein the LCD panel is bent according to the touch; and wherein the capacitance change amount changes as the LCD panel bends.

The pressure sensing unit includes a pressure sensor. When a pressure is applied to the cover layer, the cover layer and the display panel are bent. Electrical characteristics of the pressure sensor change due to the bending of the cover layer and the display panel. Abstract: In one embodiment, a touch input device capable of detecting a pressure and a position of a touch on a touch surface is disclosed. The touch input device includes a cover layer of glass, a display panel, and a touch sensor panel fully laminated on the display panel. The device further includes a substrate spaced apart from the display panel and separating the display panel from a circuit board and a battery for operation of the touch input device, and a pressure electrode disposed between the display panel and the substrate. Drive electrodes are formed on one side of an insulation layer, and receiving electrodes are formed on the other side of the insulation layer. Further, a distance between the substrate and the display panel is maintained by a double adhesive tape formed on edge portions of the substrate and the display panel when no pressure is applied.
