    摘要: A limited-bandwidth network electronic data communication system (100) includes an electronic data transmission system (200) and a network terminal (300) in communication with the electronic data transmission system over a communications network (112). The electronic data transmission system includes a data receiver, a data formatter (218) and a data transmitter. The electronic data terminal includes a data receiver, a data reformatter and a data transmitter. Using the data transmitter an operator of the electronic data terminal transmits a request for transmission of an electronic message from the electronic data transmission system to the electronic data terminal. Upon receipt of the transmission request, the data formatter of the electronic data transmission system formats the electronic message in accordance with a default filtration parameter associated with the electronic data terminal, and assembles the electronic message as part of an electronic data package. Alternately, the retransmission request may include at least one data filtration parameter defining a desired alternate resolution for the electronic message, in which case the data formatter of the electronic data transmission system formats the electronic message in accordance with the specified filtration parameter. When the formatting step is completed, the data transmitter of the electronic data transmission system transmits the electronic data package to the electronic data terminal. Upon receipt of the electronic data package, the data reformatter of the electronic data terminal extracts the electronic message from the data package for review by the operator of the electronic data terminal.

The method reduces false alarms by preventing the security system to auto-arm the system in away mode based upon certain detected events within the premises. The method comprise the steps of determining if a current time equals or is within a predetermined detection period, judging whether at least one of a plurality of motion sensors have detected an event within a protected area during the predetermined detection period, determining if a premises exit signal has been generated within a predetermined period from said detected movement, generating an automatic arm adjustment signal based upon said detected event and the premises edit signal; and executing a modification to the programmed automatic arm based upon the automatic arm adjustment signal. The method will also notify the owner that the auto-arm mode failed.

Different techniques for presenting multimedia data items are disclosed. Also described is a system using a browser tool for displaying multimedia data in accordance with these viewing techniques. Multimedia data items displayed with the viewing techniques are indices into multimedia presentations. A user selection is made by viewing the multimedia data items and control is transferred accordingly to an appropriate application to present a multimedia presentation corresponding to a selected multimedia data item. A technique is disclosed for generating an index database of the multimedia data items used as indices into the multimedia presentations.
