摘要： A limited-bandwidth network electronic data communication system (100) includes an electronic data transmission system (200) and a network terminal (300) in communication with the electronic data transmission system over a communications network (112). The electronic data transmission system includes a data receiver, a data formatter (218) and a data transmitter. The electronic data terminal includes a data receiver, a data reformatter and a data transmitter. Using the data transmitter an operator of the electronic data terminal transmits a request for transmission of an electronic message from the electronic data transmission system to the electronic data terminal. Upon receipt of the transmission request, the data formatter of the electronic data transmission system formats the electronic message in accordance with a default filtration parameter associated with the electronic data terminal, and assembles the electronic message as part of an electronic data package. Alternately, the retransmission request may include at least one data filtration parameter defining a desired alternate resolution for the electronic message, in which case the data formatter of the electronic data transmission system formats the electronic message in accordance with the specified filtration parameter. When the formatting step is completed, the data transmitter of the electronic data transmission system transmits the electronic data package to the electronic data terminal. Upon receipt of the electronic data package, the data reformatter of the electronic data terminal extracts the electronic message from the data package for review by the operator of the electronic data terminal.

The interposer includes a faucet adapter mechanism for interconnecting to a lever of the faucet and a handle adapter mechanism for interconnecting to the handle. A shock absorbing member is operatively connected to the faucet adapter mechanism and the handle adapter mechanism to dissipate excessive forces applied to the handle as the handle is moved between a first operative position and a second operative position in order to reduce the likelihood that such excessive forces will be exerted on the faucet and handle. A faucet assembly including a faucet, handle and shock absorbing interposer is also provided.

The emulated secondary storage devices are coupled to data sources. Data which is received from the data sources is tagged with respective unique identifiers, interleaved and stored on a removable storage medium, such as a tape. This facilitates maximum usage of the media access bandwidth of the single secondary storage device.

摘要： A method for reducing false alarms for a security system when the security system is programmed to automatically arm the security system. The method reduces false alarms by preventing the security system to auto-arm the system in away mode based upon certain detected events within the premises. The method comprise the steps of determining if a current time equals or is within a predetermined detection period, judging whether at least one of a plurality of motion sensors have detected an event within a protected area during the predetermined detection period, determining if a premises exit signal has been generated within a predetermined period from said detected movement, generating an automatic arm adjustment signal based upon said detected event and the premises edit signal; and executing a modification to the programmed automatic arm based upon the automatic arm adjustment signal. The method will also notify the owner that the auto-arm mode failed.

摘要： Described are a variety of techniques for viewing multimedia-based information in accordance with user controls for the speed and direction of the multimedia presentation. Different techniques for presenting multimedia data items are disclosed. User controls providing control for speed and direction in accordance with a user selection device being in a particular location. When a user device is within the defined area, the speed and direction control are on. When the user selection device leaves the defined area, the speed and direction are off. Also described is a system using a browser tool for displaying multimedia data in accordance with these viewing techniques. Multimedia data items displayed with the viewing techniques are indices into multimedia presentations. A user selection is made by viewing the multimedia data items and control is transferred accordingly to an appropriate application to present a multimedia presentation corresponding to a selected multimedia data item. A technique is disclosed for generating an index database of the multimedia data items used as indices into the multimedia presentations.
