摘要:
This document discusses, among other things, a cardiac rhythm management device or other implantable medical device that uses thoracic impedance to determine how much fluid is present in the thorax, such as for detecting or predicting congestive heart failure, pulmonary edema, pleural effusion, hypotension, or the like. The thoracic fluid amount determined from the thoracic impedance is compensated for changes in blood resistivity, which may result from changes in hematocrit level or other factors. The blood-resistivity-compensated thoracic fluid amount can be stored in the device or transmitted to an external device for storage or display. The blood-resistivity-compensated thoracic fluid amount can also be used to adjust a cardiac pacing, cardiac resynchronization, or other cardiac rhythm management or other therapy to the patient. This document also discusses applications of the devices and methods for predicting or indicating anemia.
摘要:
A system and method for determining pulmonary performance from transthoracic impedance measures is provided. Transthoracic impedance measures collected by an implantable medical device are correlated to pulmonary functional measures. The pulmonary functional measures are grouped by respiratory pattern. Pulmonary performance is evaluated. Differences are determined by comparing the pulmonary functional measures for each respiratory pattern to the pulmonary functional measures for at least one previous respiratory pattern. A trend is identified from the differences. An alert is generated upon sufficient deviation of the trend from a threshold criteria.
摘要:
A system and method to sense heart sounds with one or more implantable medical devices according to one or more parameters. The system alters one or more of the parameters as a function of one or more triggering events. The system then senses heart sounds with the one or more implantable medical devices according to at least the one or more altered parameters.
摘要:
A device and method for cardiac rhythm management in which a cardiac site is paced in accordance with a pacing mode that employs sense signals from a different cardiac site. A protective period triggered by the sensing of intrinsic activity at the paced site is used to delay pacing by a protective delay interval without otherwise disturbing the pacing algorithm.
摘要:
A system comprising a medical device that includes an impedance measurement circuit adapted to be coupled to implantable electrodes to obtain an intracardiac impedance signal between electrodes, a therapy circuit operable to deliver a therapy to a subject, and a controller circuit coupled to the impedance measurement circuit and the therapy circuit. The controller circuit determines a time rate of change of the intracardiac impedance signal and adjusts at least one parameter related to therapy in a manner that alters the rate of change.
摘要:
A device and method for multi chamber pacing a patient's heart having heart failure and intrinsic conduction, wherein ventricular tracking is used to pace the ventricle when the sinus rate exceeds a preset atrial maximum tracking rate. The ventricular tracking pacemaker increases the range of pacing the ventricle. The ventricular tracking minimizes the loss of ventricular pacing caused by intrinsic conduction when the sinus rate is below an atrial maximum tracking rate, and it induces a new ventricular pacing behavior for sinus rates above the atrial maximum tracking rate without any significant pacing hysteresis as the sinus rate returns towards the lower rate limit.
摘要:
A device and method for cardiac rhythm management in which a heart chamber is paced in accordance with sense signals from the opposite chamber or other distant cardiac site. The method is particularly useful in delivering cardiac resynchronization therapy.
摘要:
A cardiac rhythm management system that includes a pacemaker configured for biventricular pacing and an external programmer with an associated display for displaying electrogram data and markers representing ventricular events. Associated with each marker are intraventricular intervals designed to relate information to a user in a manner suited for ventricular resynchronization pacing.
摘要:
A device and method for cardiac rhythm management in which one heart chamber, designated as the synchronized chamber, is paced in accordance with a pacing mode that employs sense signals from the opposite chamber, designated as the rate chamber. A synchronized chamber protection period triggered by an intrinsic or paced beat in the synchronized chamber is used to inhibit pacing without otherwise disturbing the pacing algorithm. The duration of the synchronized chamber protection period is dynamically adjusted based upon detection of a repolarization in the synchronized chamber
摘要:
A method and system for operating a cardiac pacemaker which employs pacing therapy to regularize the ventricular rhythm together with biventricular sensing. Biventricular sensing allows the ventricular rate regularization to be accomplished with greater hemodynamic stability.
