摘要： A new chewing gum flavor ingredient, cinnamic aldehyde propylene glycol acetal (CAPGA), has been synthesized and has the structure displayed below. CAPGA is used in chewing gum compositions, particularly cinnamon and fruit-flavored gum. CAPGA also is used in a new method of making chewing gum, particular cinnamon and fruit-flavored gum. CAPGA is added to other food, drug or other oral compositions, including tooth paste. CAPGA also is used in a new method of making other food, drug or other oral compositions. ##STR1##

摘要： Cyanide reactive reducing sugars, such as xylose, ribose, arabinose, glyceraldehyde and erythrose, are added to a food, drug or other oral composition to detoxify cyanide. The cyanide reacive reducing sugar is added in an amount in excess of about 1 weight percent. The cyanide reactive reducing sugar may be mixed into the composition or may be applied as a coating on a solid composition. The cyanide reactive reducing sugar is one of the edible components of the gum.
