An image processing condition is set in accordance with the formed histogram to perform the image correction process for the original image. An image processing method judges from a shape of the formed histogram whether the original image is an image picture, and does not perform not perform the image correction process for the original image if it is judged that the original image is not an image picture.

摘要： There is provided an ink jet recording apparatus capable of shortening the recording duration even when an image to be recorded includes a high-duty area having a large amount of ink to be discharged in the case of two-sided recording on a recording medium. The ink jet recording apparatus, which reverses the recording medium to enable two-sided recording, performs dividing the image to be recorded on a high-duty area having a large amount of ink to be discharged into two (first and second) planes, first plane recording involving a unit area to be subjected to an ink discharge amount below a predetermined amount, reversing the recording medium, and recording on the rear surface, and reversing the recording medium again, and second plane recording.

摘要： There is provided an image processing method of laying out and outputting an image of an original formed from a plurality of pages on one page, the method comprising: inputting image data of the original formed from the plurality of pages; dividing the image data input in the inputting into a plurality of blocks; discarding unnecessary information; appending necessary information to each block obtained by division in the dividing based on the predetermined rule; replacing the respective blocks obtained by division in the dividing with the block from which the unnecessary information is discarded in the discarding, and the block to which the necessary information is appended in the appending; and outputting the respective blocks which have undergone replacement in the replacing by laying out the respective blocks on one page.

The RGB image data are converted into the luminance Y and the chromaticity values C1, C2, then a highlight point and a shadow point are determined and are connected to define the axis of the color solid. The color solid is rotated so as that the axis becomes parallel to the luminance axis Y and is so translated in parallel manner that the pixel of the minimum luminance coincides with the original point of the color space.

摘要： The gamut of a printer has poor saturation reproducibility in a low-lightness region, often has a shape from which the gamut is cut away, and sometimes locally forms a part having extremely low color reproducibility. Hence, upon converting colors on a first gamut onto those on a second gamut, a third gamut is generated by transforming the second gamut for the purpose of the conversion, and the colors on the first gamut are mapped onto the third gamut. The colors on the first gamut are converted into those on the second gamut based on the mapping result.

摘要： In general, it is difficult for the end user to implement a simulate illustration process for an image, since manual setups of the process are complicated and require skills. Also, there is room for improvement in terms of image quality. In this invention, the luminance histogram of an original image is generated, the brightness of that image is detected based on the histogram, and the image undergoes a filter process corresponding to the detected brightness, thus easily performing the simulate illustration process using bright tone for the image. Especially, since a filter is set for rasterized image data in correspondence with the number of lines of the data to be processed, an effective simulate illustration process can be implemented.
