Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for enhanced carrier aggregation techniques described. For example, component carrier groups including multiple component carriers may be configured. In some cases, each component carrier group may be configured to include 2n component carriers. Also, component carriers may be managed on a per component carrier group basis. In some cases, a single management message may be used to communicate management information for a component carrier group. Similarly, a single control message may be used to communicate control information, such as physical layer parameters, for a component carrier group.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for adjustment of an uplink timing at a user equipment (UE) based on switching a beamformed transmission beam used for communications between the UE and a base station. The UE and base station may establish a connection via a first beamformed transmission beam and an uplink timing of the first beamformed transmission beam may be determined. A timing difference between the first beamformed transmission beam and a second beamformed transmission beam may be identified and, in the event that communications are switched from the first beamformed transmission beam to the second beamformed transmission beam, the uplink timing may be adjusted based at least in part on the timing difference. Such uplink timing adjustment may be made autonomously at the UE, and may be made irrespective of a magnitude of the adjustment.

Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure relate to reporting power headroom of an apparatus such as a user equipment (UE). For an apparatus that uses beamforming, the power headroom associated with the beam the apparatus is using for wireless communication (e.g., with a base station) may be lower than the power headroom associated with another beam that the apparatus could use for the wireless communication. The disclosure relates in some aspects to using one beam for wireless communication and using the power headroom for another beam for a power headroom report. In this way, the apparatus may always report its full transmit power capability.

Abstract: As wireless communication technology advances, the bandwidth usage of wireless communications systems becomes increasingly flexible. For example, different user equipment (UEs) may support different bandwidths or radio frequency capabilities. However, a scheduling entity may not know wireless capabilities or characteristics (e.g., supported bandwidths, RF chain configurations, reconfiguration times, and/or the like) of the UEs for which the scheduling entity is to manage communications, which may hamper the ability of the scheduling entity to take advantage of the advances in flexible bandwidth usage described above. Techniques for synchronization, scheduling, bandwidth allocation, and reference signal transmission in a wireless communications system associated with flexible bandwidth allocation, such as a 5G network, are described herein.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. that support asymmetric time division duplexing (TDD) coexistence among different operators having adjacent nodes in wireless networks. A baseline TDD configuration may be established for a set of frequency bands, that provides that uplink (UL) transmissions and downlink (DL) transmissions within a set of frequency bands are aligned and result in relatively little or no interference among different operators. An operator may determine that a TDD configuration that is different from the baseline TDD configuration may be beneficial and may select an interference mitigation procedure and communicate with one or more UEs using the interference mitigation procedure and TDD configuration that is different than the baseline TDD configuration.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described to enable a mobile access node to enter a new power state based on detection of a second access node. The second access node may be detected by the mobile access node or a central unit (CU). The mobile access node or the CU may determine for the mobile access node to enter a new power state and may notify the other of the determination. The mobile access node may enter a lower power state if the second access node is within a defined proximity or if one or more thresholds are exceeded. The mobile access node may enter a higher power state if no other access nodes are within the defined proximity or if the one or more thresholds are not exceeded. Configuration parameters for a power state change procedure may be configured by control signaling from a CU.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a measurement configuration on a first cell specifying a measurement gap for measuring cells on other frequencies. The UE may then measure a second cell and determine an offset between the timing of the two cells. If the measured frequency band is synchronized (or nearly synchronized), the length of the measurement gap may be reduced. In some cases, the UE may then make measurements on the second cell using a reduced measurement interval, and the UE may power down certain components during the rest of the measurement gap to conserve power. In other cases, the UE may coordinate with the serving cell to reduce the measurement gap to minimize the interruption caused by the gaps.
