摘要: 1. A process for the preparation of a latex comprising a core polymer and a shell thereover and wherein said core polymer is generated by (A)(i) emulsification and heating of the polymerization reagents of monomer, chain transfer agent, water, surfactant, and initiator;(ii) generating a seed latex by the aqueous emulsion polymerization of a mixture comprised of part of the (i) monomer emulsion, from about 0.5 to about 50 percent by weight, and a free radical initiator, and which polymerization is accomplished by heating, and, wherein the reaction of the free radical initiator and monomer produces a seed latex containing a polymer;(iii) heating and adding to the formed seed particles of (ii) the remaining monomer emulsion of (I), from about 50 to about 99.5 percent by weight of monomer emulsion of (i) and free radical initiator;(iv) whereby there is provided said core polymer; and(B) forming a shell thereover said core generated polymer and which shell is generated by emulsion polymerization of a second monomer in the presence of the core polymer, which emulsion polymerization is accomplished by(i) emulsification and heating of the polymerization reagents of monomer, chain transfer agent, surfactant, and an initiator;(ii) adding a free radical initiator and heating;(iii) whereby there is provided said shell polymer.

摘要: A process for the preparation of polymer latex particles comprising:(a) conducting a pre-reaction emulsification which comprises emulsification of the polymerization reagents of monomer, polar comonomer, water, surfactant, chain transfer agent, and initiator, and wherein said emulsification is accomplished at a low temperature of from about 3.degree. to about 35.degree. C.; and(b) accomplishing an emulsion polymerization, which comprises heating the emulsified mixture of (a) in a reactor at from about 25.degree. to about about 125.degree. C. and retaining the contents of the reactor for an effective time period at said temperature of from about 25.degree. to about about 12.degree. C., followed by cooling.

摘要: A toner composition with a novel surface additive package for developing images. The additive package includes sol-gel silica, a PDMS silica, an organic spacer such as PMMA and two HMDS silicas. The toner composition exhibits improved control of voltage, higher print density, lower toner amount remaining on the roll, lower toner usage, and reduced drum contamination. The toner composition also exhibits improved dry rheological properties and improved fix properties. These improved properties make this toner composition useful for higher speed printing while using less toner.

摘要: The present disclosure provides processes for reducing the particle size of latex resins and toners produced with such resins. In embodiments, a carboxylic acid may be added to materials utilized to produce a latex and reduce the particle size of the resulting latex particles and toner particles. In accordance with the present disclosure, one may be able to utilize materials for the production of latex resins and toners which may otherwise produce particles that are too large in the absence of the carboxylic acid.
