Two end blocks (20) disposed at two opposite ends of the housing (12), extend in both downward and rearward directions to define a space therebetween whereby the right angle type contact tails (30) are positioned in the space. A back shell (70) with an L-shaped cross-sectional configuration is attached to the back side of the housing (12) by two latch devices (76) intergrated therewith for protectively covering all the contact tails (30), wherein a horizontal wall (74) and a vertical wall (72) of the back shell (70) are respectively supported by top edge sections (81) and back edge sections (80) of the end blocks (20).

    摘要: An electrical connector assembly (10) comprises of a pair of plug and receptacle board-to-board connectors (12, 14). Each connector (12, 14) has an insulative housing (50, 16) with a plurality of contacts (54, 24) wherein each contact (54, 24) has substantially a cantilever type spring arm with a maximum deflection apex (B, A) thereof. Mated plug and receptacle connectors (12, 14) pass the maximum deflection apexes (B, A) of the contacts with each other to provide positive locking thereof. Each connector (12, 14) further includes a grounding plate (64, 32) longitudinally extending along the housing (50, 16) wherein coupling means (66, 35) are formed respectively on the grounding plate (64, 32) of each connector (12, 14) for combining such pair of grounding plates (64, 32) together. A pair of mounting devices (76, 38) are disposed adjacent two opposite ends of the housing (50, 16) of each connector (12, 14) and mechanically and electrically engaged with the respective distal ends of the corresponding grounding plate (64, 32) in the same connector (12, 14).

    摘要: A pair of board-to-board connectors (10, 30) including a receptacle connector (10) and a plug connector (30). The receptacle connector (10) includes an insulative first housing (12) having a plurality of first passageways (14) for receiving a corresponding number of first contacts (16) therein, respectively. Each first contact (16) is of a resilient bellow type and the distal end (22) thereof abuts against the butting wall (26) of the housing (12) for pre-loading consideration, thus controlling the contact gap for mating. The plug connector (30) includes an insulative second housing (32) having a plurality of second passageways (34) for receiving a corresponding number of second contacts (36) therein, respectively. Each second contact (36) is of a stiff stick type and the distal end (42) thereof abuts against the side wall (44) of the housing (32) for confronting the mated corresponding first contact (16). A pair of lateral projections (48, 50) are formed at either end of each housing (12, 32) for protecting the tails of (20, 40) the contacts (16, 36) therebetween.

    摘要: A plug connector (10) includes an insulative elongated housing (12) defining an elongated cavity (14) therein along the lengthwise direction. The depth of the cavity (14) is relatively smaller than the full dimension of the height of the housing (12). The housing (12) defines a plurality of passageways (18) extending along the height direction and the front end portion of each passageway (18) inwardly communicates with the cavity (14). Oppositely, the remaining most lower portion of each passageway (18) is exposed to an exterior laterally. Thus, a plurality of elongated contacts (24) are adapted to be insertably received within the corresponding passageways (18), respectively, wherein the front portion (36) of each contact (24) is inwardly exposed to the cavity (14) and the remaining portion (26) of the contact (24) is outwardly exposed to an exterior on two sides of the housing (12). A plurality of raised ribs (60) are disposed on two side surfaces (42) of the housing (12) for providing additional support against a shield plate (40). Two pairs of barbs (30, 32) are provided adjacent two opposite ends of each contact (24) wherein the front barbs (32) provide not only alignment but also retention, and the rear barbs (30) provide not only resistance to vibration occurring thereabout, but also preferred engagement with the shield plate for some specific grounding contact (24).

Additionally, the engaging body (52) of the contact (48) of the socket connector (12) is substantially positioned beyond the partition rib (46), and thus the barbs (54) formed on two sides of the engaging body (52) each has a coined portion so that such barb (54) can be substantially completely embedded within the corresponding passage (42) defined between two adjacent ribs (46) for reinforcing the retention function with regard to the housing (36) for preventing contact (48) of the socket connector (12) from deforming or tilting during mating.
