Abstract:
A plasma display panel driver. The driver uses a high side switch of a scan IC to increase a voltage width of an initialization waveform which is applied in the initial operation of the plasma display panel set. Accordingly, the initial screen is stably driven, and a voltage width is increased without additional installation of elements or an increase of a withstanding voltage switches
Abstract:
A driving apparatus of a plasma display panel. In a scan electrode driving circuit, a drain of a first transistor is coupled to a scan electrode, and a driver of the first transistor is coupled to the gate and a source of the first transistor. During a reset period, the driver turns on the first transistor and reduces a voltage at a scan electrode and then turns off the first transistor so as to gradually reduce the voltage of the scan electrode by floating the scan electrode. Further, a selecting voltage may be applied to the scan electrode by turning on the first and second transistors during an address period. Thus, the transistor used during the reset period may be used in the address period.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a PDP driving method which may include generating subfield information that shows ON/OFF states of discharge cells from among a plurality of subfields from input image signals, generating address information that shows ON/OFF states of the discharge cells per subfield from the subfield data, counting the number of the discharge cells that are ON from among the discharge cells from the address data, and controlling a waveform applied during a reset period of a subsequent subfield.
Abstract:
Positive and negative sustain discharge voltages of equal magnitude are alternately applied to a scan electrode while biasing the sustain electrode at 0 V during a sustain interval. The positive sustain discharge voltage is applied through the first end of the scan electrode, and the negative sustain discharge voltage is applied through the second end of the scan electrode. The present invention may remove a brightness variation which may occur toward a direction the scanning electrode extends.
Abstract:
A method for driving a display panel to produce an efficient sustain discharge is provided. In one embodiment, the display panel includes a plurality of scanning electrodes that are driven by a sustain discharge signal. A corresponding plurality of common electrode groups is driven individually by different sustain discharge signals. Sustain discharge is performed by alternately applying high level sustain pulses to each the plurality of scanning electrodes and each the plurality of common electrode groups. Sustain pulses with a high level are applied sequentially to each the plurality of common electrode groups in time intervals between the sustain pulses with the high level applied to the plurality of scanning electrodes. Therefore, it is possible to maintain a duty rate of a sustain discharge signal near 50% while reducing a peak value of currents generated upon sustain discharge driving, thereby achieving stable sustain discharge.
Abstract:
In a plasma display panel driving method, a final voltage of a falling ramp voltage is reduced to a voltage for firing a discharge at all the discharge cells in a reset period. A difference between a voltage at an address electrode of a discharge cell to be selected and a voltage applied to a scan electrode is established to be greater than a maximum discharge firing voltage in an address period. A voltage greater than a sustain voltage is applied to the scan electrode so as to convert positive wall charges which can be formed on the scan electrode of a discharge cell which is not selected in the address period into negative wall charges.
Abstract:
A PDP driving method. No rising ramp voltage is applied to a scan electrode during a reset period. The final voltage of a falling ramp voltage is reduced to a voltage by which all the discharge cells can fire the discharge during the reset period. A difference between the voltage applied to the address electrode of the discharge cell to be selected and the voltage applied to the scan electrode is established to be greater than the maximum discharge firing voltage.

A plasma display device includes a plasma display panel, a chassis base and circuit board assemblies mounted on the chassis base. The plasma display panel includes: a front substrate, a rear substrate, and a plurality of electrodes between the front and rear substrates; and an electrode pattern formed on the rear substrate and separate from the plurality of electrodes. The chassis base is adjacent the rear substrate. The electrode pattern is configured for transmitting power and signals utilized to drive the plurality of electrodes from at least one of the plurality of circuit board assemblies.
Abstract:
A plasma display panel (PDP) driving method and a PDP gray-representing method for improving representation performance of low gray scales is disclosed. A voltage rising from a low level voltage to a reset voltage of a reset period of a subsequent subfield is applied to a scan electrode, without having a sustain period, after performing an address operation of the subfield with the minimum weight. The discharge cell selected in the address period of the minimum weight is discharged in an initial part of the gradually rising voltage.
Abstract:
A plasma display panel (PDP) and a method for driving the PDP. An ON/OFF pattern of an externally-inputted image signal is checked to sense a sustained discharge occurring in discharge cells respectively corresponding to scan electrodes included in a particular one of multiple scan electrode groups over a predetermined time. A control operation is carried out in response to the sensing of the sustained discharge to allow a discharge to occur in discharge cells respectively corresponding to scan electrodes included in the scan electrode groups other than the particular scan electrode group.
