摘要： A supporting member is removably attached to an upright presser bar of a sewing machine, and a zipper foot is attached to the supporting member so as to be removable therefrom. The position of the zipper foot on and with reference to the supporting member can be changed in direction transversely of the upright presser bar of the sewing machine, to thereby make it possible to move the zipper foot to positions in which the sewing machine can be used to sew a zipper, and to a position in which the sewing machine can be used for other work not involving the sewing of a zipper; this eliminates the need for removing the zipper foot at such times when the machine is not used to sew a zipper.

摘要： An upper thread carried by a vertically reciprocating needle is drawn from a bobbin through a tensioning device, a supply device and a take-up lever. A predetermined amount of the upper thread is first supplied by actuating the supply device, while applying no tension thereto. An additional amount of the upper thread is then supplied by operation of the take-up lever with a predetermined tension being given thereto. The additional amount is detected by a sensor. The supply device includes a one-way clutch for allowing the upper thread to travel in a predetermined direction which, however, may not be conveyed from the needle side when the supply device is made operative. A CPU controls the amount of thread first supplied by the supply device which will always be smaller than an amount actually required for producing a stitch, resulting in an additional amount to be supplied supplemental in cooperation with the tensioning device.

摘要： A zigzag sewing machine includes a needle hole member having a round needle hole of a diameter slightly larger than that of a stitching needle. The needle hole member engages a laterally elongated hole in a needle plate and is swingable along the latter. A base member is mounted coaxially with a loop taker and is rotatable relative to the loop taker. The needle hole member is pivoted to the base member for relative vertically swinging movement. A lever swingably mounted on the machine housing engages with the needle hole member, and a cam rotated in synchronism with the vertical reciprocation of the needle is in engagement with the swinging lever. A stepping motor is operatively connected to the needle to reciprocate the needle laterally in the elongated needle plate hole, and the motor is also operatively connected to the base member to reciprocate the base member.

摘要： An electronic sewing machine is operated to produce a stitch pattern or a sequence of plural stitch patterns, in response to corresponding stitch control data, which are stored in an electronic memory element of the sewing machine and read out in response to desired manual operation of a pattern selection device provided therein. The pattern selection device includes an operation panel arranged along a laterally extending bracket arm of the machine housing, on which a plurality of sheet switches for selecting alphabet and symbol patterns in reference to their representations shown on the sheet switches are neatly and efficiently arranged. The sheet switches may comprise two rows of pentagonal shaped switches arranged adjacent to each other, or may comprise three rows in which upper and lower rows comprise sheet switches of pentagonal shape and a middle row of regular hexagonal shaped switches is interposed therebetween. The three rows arrangement of sheet switches may preferably be modeled after the key arrangement of a typewriter for easier operation.

摘要： A lower thread tension adjusting device is disclosed, which is used in combination with a sewing machine having a horizontal rotary loop taker and a stationary bobbin carrier accomodating a bobbin. A lower thread drawn from the bobbin is passed between a base plate secured to the outer face of the bobbin carrier and the free end of a resilient plate having one end secured to the base plate, so that by manipulation of an adjusting screw a variable degree of tension can be applied to the lower thread. The device is so designed that when an index provided on the adjusting screw is in alignment with a reference mark of the base plate, the lower thread will be given a predetermined standard value of tension.
