A silver halide color photographic material comprising a support having thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing at least one 1H-pyrrolo[2,1-c][1,2,4]triazole cyan coupler represented by the following general formula (I) or (II): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent, provided that at least one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is an electron withdrawing group which has a Hammett's substituent constant .sigma.p value of 0.15 or more; R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may be bonded to form a ring; and X represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent capable of being released upon coupling with an oxidation product of an aromatic primary amine color developing agent; said coupler may form a bis-compound or or a polymer at R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 or X; and a cyan image forming method comprising imagewise exposing a silver halide color photographic material comprising a support having thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and subjecting the exposed photographic material to color development with an aromatic primary amine color dveloping agent at the presence of the above-described 1H-pyrrolo[2,1c][1,2,4]triazole cyan coupler.

The silver halide color photographic materials are improved in color developability and color image light fastness. The pyrazoloazole type magenta couplers are 5-membered ring/5-membered ring condensed nitrogen heterocyclic type couplers.

A method of forming a color image comprising developing a silver halide photographic light-sensitive material with a developing solution containing an aromatic primary amine is disclosed. The developing is carried out in the presence of a coupler represented by the general formula (I) described below and/or a polymer coupler which is a polymer or copolymer having a repeating unit derived from a vinyl monomer containing a part represented by the general formula (I) described below in its molecule: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent; and X represents a hydrogen atom or a group capable of being released upon coupling.The magenta color forming coupler represented by the general formula (I) or the polymer coupler containing the part represented by the general formula (I) has a good color forming property and provides a magenta color image having an excellent spectral absorption property free from subsidiary absorptions in the region around 430 nm and good fastness. A silver halide photographic light-sensitive material containing the magenta coupler is also disclosed.
