[MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The invention relates to an egg collection conveyor and a vertical feeding device for egg collection, and particularly relates to an a egg roll out mechanism for an egg collector. The egg collection conveyor collects eggs produced at each cage of a multiple-stage chicken cage and conveys the eggs to horizontally one end side of the conveyor. The vertical feeding device for egg collection is provided on one end side of the multiple-stage chicken cage, conveys the eggs in the vertical direction, and discharges the eggs, collected by the egg collection conveyor, at a previously set position. The vertical feeding device has egg placement means on which eggs are placed and that discharges the eggs at a desired position. The egg placement means has a space section directly under the position where an egg is placed and the space can be in contact with the bottom surface of the egg. The vertical feeding device is connected to endless conveyor for conveying the collected eggs to a desired position. A projection for egg roll out is provided on the downstream side of the egg placement means and the distance of the projection relative to the egg placement means is changed corresponding to a change in the conveyance direction of the endless conveyor. In the egg roll out mechanism, when the relative distance is minimum, the egg roll out mechanism causes an end of the projection to reach the space section to help rolling out of an egg.

A conveyor and escalator for transporting objects having a substantially uniform size and length such as eggs horizontally, vertically and helically vertically comprising at least one flexible endless support means; a drive means operably engaging said flexible endless support means for driving said flexible endless support means in a direction of advance; and a plurality of equispaced elongated paddles attached substantially perpendicular to said flexible endless support means, said paddles being adapted to support an object during linear travel and to open for receiving or releasing said object therebetween during arcuate travel. The endless flexible support means comprises an endless chain, an endless belt or an endless cable. Preferably, the endless flexible support means comprises a pair or parallel spaced-apart endless chains and at least two linearly-spaced sprocket wheels engaging each said endless chain for supporting said chain in linear travel between the sprocket wheels and in arcuate travel about said sprocket wheels, and means for rotating said sprocket wheels for advancing the endless chains. The elongated paddles may have an I-section with means at opposite ends of the I-section for removably connecting said paddles at said opposite ends to the endless chains transversely to the said direction of advance whereby the paddles remain vertically upright during horizontal linear travel to support objects on adjacent upper flanges and whereby the paddles pivot relative to each other about a longitudinal central axis during arcuate travel to open adjacent paddles at the upper flanges to receive objects therebetween during downward arcuate travel and to open adjacent paddles at adjacent lower flanges to discharge objects therefrom during upward arcuate travel. An egg transporting system for receiving eggs from a plurality of egg belt conveyors leading from cages of a poultry installation receives eggs on an input side and transfers them to an opposite side of the system to an accumulation conveyor. The transporting system includes an elevator having a plurality of generally U-shaped egg transporting cradles with asymmetric legs for receiving and cradling eggs at the input side and holding and transferring eggs on the discharge side while providing a smooth transition of the egg from one leg to the other as the eggs are moved from one side of the vertical elevator to the other side. A plurality of the cradles are mounted adjacent one another to cross bars extending between endless loop drives with vertically spaced rows of cradles in abutting contact to present substantially continuous egg receiving openings to the belt conveyors. In one embodiment, the conveyor has an inclined input end to facilitate transfer of eggs into the cradles and improved mounting system for simplifying the attachment of the egg conveyors to the input side of the elevator. In some embodiments, an improved egg counting assembly is mounted to the output side of the elevator for singulating and counting the eggs collected by the system and transferred onto the main conveyor.
