    Abstract: There is disclosed a dental hygiene kit including a sealed flat rectangular package formed of a pair of foil lined synthetic plastic sheets sealed together around all the edges thereof and having an end portion which is tearable to open the package. Within the package is a synthetic felt pad about 3.5 by 7.0 by 0.2 cm. folded once to form a square; within the folded synthetic felt pad is approximately 30 cm. of unwaxed dental floss wound on a plastic or paper spindle about 3 cm. by 1 cm. The pad is impregnated with about two cc of liquid consisting of water, about 15% alcohol, and a dentafrice consisting of one or more of the substances thymol, eucalyptol, menthol or benzoic acid. As an alternative to the spindle for the dental floss, the floss may be contained in a transparent plastic bag about 2.5 by 3.0 cm. or may simply be wound in a flat spiral coil. The kit is used by tearing open one end, removing and using the dental floss in a customary manner, and wiping the teeth with the felt pad in lieu of a toothbrush.

    Abstract: A unique system for distributing and sampling cosmetics is disclosed. The cosmetics which are normally dry, are combined with a liquid carrier and film forming agent and deposited onto a substrate. The film forming agent acts to microencapsulate the cosmetic and lightly bond the cosmetic to the substrate. When the film forming agent dries, it protects the cosmetic. Thus, the cosmetic can be applied to a substrate and covered with a paperboard sheet. Access to the cosmetic can be provided by a tear strip. Greasy cosmetics, such as lipstick, can also be applied to a substrate according to the present invention. These cosmetics are first microencapsulated with gelatin and the formed microparticles are secondarily encapsulated with a film forming agent and deposited onto a substrate. This method permits cosmetics to be distributed through the mail and as magazine inserts and the like.

    Abstract: A fragrance sampler for delivering and dispensing perfumes is disclosed. The sampler includes a sheet of synthetic pile fabric or other fabric with similar tactile properties having embedded therein microcapsules containing a fragrance oil. The fabric material, preferably made of a base sheet of polyethylene having segments of polyethylene fiber or strand aligned perpendicular thereto and prepared by means of a flocking process, provides a velvet-like texture that is pleasant to the touch, inviting the user to apply perfume by gently rubbing it on the skin. Microcapsules embedded in the fabric pile are ruptured by such rubbing, releasing a sample of the perfume. The sampler may be sealed by an impermeable film and may be removably connected to advertising material, such as brochures.

    Abstract: A finely perforated sheet of nonwoven fabric composed of nylon and cotton having a width and length of the order of 8 and 11 inches, respectively, is folded six times into superposed plies that are impregnated with a scented liquid, for example, water and lime fragrance, and enclosed between heat-sealed sheets each of which comprises an innermost layer of vinyl compound, on one side of a layer of aluminum on the other side of which is a coating of polyethylene which has an outer layer of cellophane, the resulting packet being capable of withstanding high temperatures to 420* F. for 20 minutes and low temperatures to 38* F. for 10 minutes.
