    摘要: The cutter comprises two relatively displacing blades, one of them made in the form of a bushing and rigidly secured on a carriage adapted for reciprocating motion in the direction of material feed, while the other blade is installed for possible displacement in the course of cutting in the direction perpendicular to carriage travel. The cutter also comprises a drive for simultaneous displacement of the carriage and the blade, which is displaced in the course of cutting in the direction perpendicular to carriage travel. The drive according to the invention comprises two crank and connecting-rod mechanisms which are so installed that the connecting rod of one mechanism is positioned essentially vertically, while the connecting rod of the other mechanism is positioned essentially horizontally and with its end pivotally connected to the vertical connecting rod, which in its turn, is pivotally connected to the carriage through a lever, a axle connecting the lever to the vertical connecting rod, thus displacing the blade in a direction perpendicular to the carriage travel. The proposed cutter features low inertia potential and consequently higher productivity as compared with known flying cutters of a similar type.

    摘要: A flying shear is disclosed having upper and lower blade assemblies wherein upper and lower blade holders can be slid endwise out of the machine when replacing cutting blades and are rigidly clamped in position by adjustable tapered wedges acting against shoulders on the blade holder. The lower blade holder is mounted on a trapezoidal mounting member which has a small taper on both sides and is clamped between two oppositely tapered wedges in such a way that the gap between the cutting blades can be adjusted very easily while maintaining substantially perfect alignment of the blades by sliding the wedges lengthwise. Adjusting screws are provided to simplify this adjustment. Dovetail joints are provided between the side edges of the upper blade holder and its cooperating wedge and upper mounting member to prevent the upper blade holder from dropping out of its mounting member.

    摘要: The apparatus comprises a shearing device including a single plate with a substantially rectangular opening surrounded by a sharpened edge, said plate being positioned perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of a continuously moving tube to be cut. The tube, which may have a substantially rectangular shape, passes through the opening which is angularly disposed relative to the tube. Advancing mechanism moves the plate with and at the same speed as that of the tube and means subject the plate to reciprocation transverse the axis of the tube, thereby severing the tube by the sharpened edge surrounding the rectangular opening.

    摘要: A rotary cutter flying tube cutoff apparatus for continuously and automatically severing elongated stock into preselected lengths. The apparatus includes a rotary-type cutter encompassing the stock and mounted for reciprocation along a path of travel extending longitudinally of the stock. The stock is fed into the apparatus and into the rotary cutter along such path of travel at a predetermined rate. Means are provided for moving the rotary cutter along with the stock at said predetermined rate and for actuating the rotary cutter while the stock and cutter are moving. Adjusting devices are provided to cut the stock to any suitable preselected length and to cut stock of a wide range of diameters. The rotary cutter effects an exceptionally clean cut free of burrs and jagged edges.
