Abstract:
A image reading apparatus includes a first placement unit, a second placement unit, a first reading unit, a second reading unit, a rotating mechanism, and a switch-over mechanism that switches over the first placement unit and the second placement unit between a horizontal state and an inclined state. The rotating mechanism rotates the first reading unit and the second reading unit, so that, in the horizontal state, the first image reading unit and the second image reading unit read a medium placed on the first placement unit and a medium placed on the second placement unit respectively, and, in the inclined state, the first image reading unit and the second image reading unit read a medium placed on the second placement unit and a medium placed on the first placement unit respectively.
Abstract:
In an aligning mechanism of a 3D printer scanning device, a scan driving module includes a base and a motor, and the motor has a driving gear. The scan loading module includes a loading table, a turntable, and an engaging gear connected to the turntable, and the loading table has a notch, and the engaging gear is exposed from the notch. The driving gear of the scan driving module and the engaging gear of the scan loading module have a rounded corner or a positioning portion, so that the driving gear is engaged precisely with the engaging gear.
Abstract:
In an image scanning apparatus, a carriage includes a slide block arranged to be guided by a guide rail, and a carriage main body arranged to be mounted onto the slide block. The slide block is mounted on the guide rail in either a standard position or an adjusting position. When the slide block being is in the standard position, the carriage main body is positioned relative to the slide block. When the slide block is in the adjusting position, the angle of the carriage main body can be adjusted relative to the guide rail by swinging the carriage main body relative to the slide block upon a fulcrum pin.
Abstract:
A document reading apparatus is provided, which includes a housing having an opening in a reading surface, an imaging portion, arranged within the housing, that reads a document via the opening, and a position detection portion arranged within the opening.

Abstract:
Systems and methods using an orientation/position-sensitive calibration pattern for three-dimensional calibration of an imaging system, such as one used in a process for scanning documents are disclosed. The method generally includes positioning the pattern on a support, capturing images using cameras to be calibrated, each image containing at least a unique orientation and position sensitive sub-area of the pattern, determining a set of coordinate pairs of corresponding points in the image and the pattern for each image utilizing image data and pattern information, and performing optimization utilizing the sets of coordinate pairs to calibrate relative position, orientation, zoom, and/or lens distortion, etc. of each camera so as to construct a three-dimensional camera calibration model. The pattern is generally comprised of overlapping sub-areas of a minimum portion of the pattern.
Abstract:
A scanner capable of selecting scanning positions includes a scanning window, a scanning module and a control processing unit. Before a sheet of documents is scanned, the control processing unit moves the scanning module to a first location to generate a first image datum, and moves the scanning module to a second location to generate a second image datum. The control processing unit compares both the image data according to differences between the first and second image data, and moves the scanning module to a scanning location for scanning the sheet of document.
Abstract:
Provided is an image reader including: a transparent original mounting plate on which an original is mounted; a support which has an appearance larger than that of the original mounting plate and supports the original mounting plate; a reading unit which optically reads the original placed on the original mounting plate; a movement unit which moves the reading unit in a predetermined direction within a readable area; and a reference location specifying plate having a positioning hole and a reference mark hole, wherein the support has a positioning protrusion within the readable area, the reference location specifying plate is positioned and fixed with respect to the support by inserting the positioning protrusion into the positioning hole, and the reading unit optically detects the location of the reference mark hole and specifies a reference location of an original reading area from the detected location of the reference mark hole.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes a reading unit, a control unit, and a pattern region. The reading unit moves a linear reading range, which is provided in a main scanning direction, in a sub-scanning direction that intersects with the main scanning direction while reading an object that faces the reading range, and generates image data on the basis of a read result. The control unit controls the reading unit. The pattern region includes a predetermined pattern that defines a reference position for specifying a reading position that is read by the reading unit. The predetermined pattern has a characteristic portion that specifies a schematic position of the predetermined pattern in the sub-scanning direction. The control unit includes a first image acquisition unit, a pattern searching unit, a second image acquisition unit, a characteristic portion searching unit, a first reprocessing instruction unit, and a second reprocessing instruction unit.
Abstract:
A document reading apparatus includes a housing including a bottom surface formed with a reading opening for reading a document, position detection sections disposed on the bottom surface while interposing the reading opening therebetween to detect a position of the document reading apparatus, and foot sections each having a contact surface being in contact with the document and a detection opening formed in a part of the contact surface, the detection opening facing the position detection section on the bottom surface.
