Abstract:
This invention relates to a particulate material thrower comprising an endless belt running over a pair of rollers which provides a loading end and discharge end on the belt, and a thrower wheel running adjacent to the belt over the roller at the discharge end. The thrower wheel is characterized by a plurality of vanes extending between the side flanges of the thrower wheel wherein the vanes are shaped in a manner so as to collect material on the belt before throwing. One advantage of the invention is to significantly increase the amount of acceleration that can be given to particles or other particulate matter without such energy being imparted to the materials quickly or in single step so that the material such as grain is not damaged. Another advantage of the invention is that it reduces side spillage or leakage from the belt.
Abstract:
The spreader comprises at least one caster group (10) including at least two cylindrical rollers (11, 13) which are externally tangent to one another and define between them a spout (15, 16) for projecting the sheet of granular products flowing from a hopper (1). After being speeded-up and forcibly projected between the two rollers (11, 13), the projected sheet is taken-up a distribution device, with horizontal" (15) or vertical deflector, or with clusters of distribution tubes. Each caster group may comprises injection means, with at least two rollers which are externally tangent to one another to increase the flow of projected products.
Abstract:
A new and improved dump truck having an integrated spreader system which permits the truck to be readily converted between a normal dump mode of operation and a spreader mode of operation. The integrated spreader system comprises a longitudinally extending conveyor structurally integrated into the bottom structure of the dump body of the truck and a spreader mounted on the truck frame at the rear of the truck.
Abstract:
A spreader particularly adapted for manual operation over a residential lawn includes a one-piece hopper made of corrosion resistant material. Lugged wheels connect with a shaft which is rotatively carried by and extends through a lower part of the hopper. On the shaft inside the hopper is an agitator bar having outward extending projections. The bar projections align with a series of slots in a rear wall of the hopper for a discharge of material in the hopper to the ground below. To regulate this discharge a movable gate is positioned on an outer side of the hopper slots. Gate movement is effected by a control bar carried in a flow control housing of a handle assembly having an extension attached to the hopper. The degree of gate movement, which affects the size of the slot openings, is regulated by a position of a stop operatively connected to a rotatable dial in the flow control housing. During use an operator holds a handle bar of the handle assembly while compressing the control bar until it engages the stop. This control bar action moves the gate to selectively uncover the hopper slots allowing material in the hopper to discharge. Material flow through the hopper slots is enhanced by rotation of the agitator bar and connecting wheels as the wheels roll over the ground below.
Abstract:
A spreader for particulate material, the spreader being of the broadcast type having a hopper from which particulate material is discharged onto a rotating impeller. To provide adjustment for materials of various physical properties, a conically-shaped deflector is mounted between the hopper and impeller. The deflector is helically shaped at the bottom so that it has a gradually varying radius. By rotary adjustment of the deflector, particulate material can be discharged onto a preselected portion of the impeller.
Abstract:
Apparatus for spreading chaff includes brackets for mounting the apparatus beneath and rearwardly of the cleaning shoe of a combine or other grain threshing machine and separately of any straw chopping and spreading apparatus provided adjacent the straw discharge opening. The apparatus comprises a pair of fans rotatable in a horizontal plane above a base plate and upstanding walls defining housings around the fans and discharge nozzles extending to the sides of the apparatus to discharge the chaff from each fan in a sideward direction and to substantially prevent discharge of chaff rearwardly of the apparatus.
Abstract:
An apparatus for spreading granular material, such as fertilizer, has a carriage (1) on which there is mounted a vertical conveyer (5, 6) which comprises a vertical cylindrical housing (5) and a conveyer screw (6) rotatably mounted therein. The screw (6) is rigidly connected at its lower end to an infeed cup (8) and directly connected to a driving mechanism (7) below the cup (8). The cylindrical housing (5) and the screw wing of the screw (6) extend downwardly into the cup (8), and the cylindrical housing has guide means (9) conducting the material inwardly towards the screw blade of the screw. The material is supplied from a supply container (1A) directly down into the cup (8). At its upper end, the screw (6) is non-rotatably connected to its spreader (12) to which the granular material is conveyed via a discharge opening (20) in the cylindrical housing and a distributor disk (21). The effective throughflow area of the distributor disk, as calculated per angular unit in the circumferential direction of the cylindrical housing, varies and is smaller at the beginning and at the end of the discharge opening (20) of the cylindrical housing.
Abstract:
A spreader has a hopper the lower region of which comprises a wall portion which coincides in part with a sphere and contains outlet ports for material to pass at an inclined angle from the hopper to a rotating distribution member. The free aperture of each port is adjustable by a dosing slide. These dosing slides are controlled by an adjusting mechanism capable of displacing either one of the dosing slides without displacing the other.
Abstract:
A spreading apparatus to be placed on a vehicle and comprising a container, from which the spreading material can be distributed through a dosing device, and a velocity sensing driving wheel placed at the rear end of the vehicle. The driving wheel may be lowered into contact with the roadway and is adapted to drive the dosing device and possibly also a spreading disc through an energy transferring device. The energy transferring device is provided by means of a hydraulic wheel pump coupled to the wheel, said hydraulic wheel pump feeding pressurized liquid through a liquid conduit to one or more hydraulic motors driving a plurality of stirrer and delivery rolls. According to the invention the pressurized liquid is also fed to a piston in a cylinder, which when the pressure in the conduit has been reduced to a predetermined value due to an empty material container or as a consequence of the spreading being decoupled, implies that the wheel is no longer pressed against the roadway. In this manner an unnecessary operation of the machinery is avoided.
Abstract:
A container for material such as fertilizer or seeds which delivers same to an underlying distributing device is mounted on a tractor so that the weight of the container and associated equipment is indicated to the operator of the tractor whereby the amount of material remaining in the container is specifically indicated. The weighing apparatus includes a spring, pointer and scale incorporated in the supporting structure extending from the tractor for the container and associated equipment and the pointer and scale may be interconnected to the spring and mounted on the tractor for the convenience of the operator. In one embodiment the spring is a tension spring at the top of the supporting structure and in another embodiment it is a compression spring near the bottom of the supporting structure. Instead of a spring, the weight may be indicated by hydraulic pressure in a hydraulic system for the supporting structure. Such pressure may be used to control a dosing mechanism in the distributing device via a computer to meter a given quantity of material based on the tractor's velocity and the quantity of material to be uniformly spread over a given area of field. The material can be a liquid and mounted on a frame having supporting wheels with information as to the weight of the container being conveyed by a hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly which is situated between the container and the mounting for the wheels.
