摘要: A railcar moving device for localized moving of railcars in railyards and the like comprises two hydraulic motors which operatively attach to the railcar, each motor being attached to the end of an axle of the car. A rotatable shaft extends from each motor and is securely attached to a hub which in turn is attached to an endcap secured to the end of the axle. The rotation of the rotable shaft under the power of the motor thus rotates the axle and moves the railcar. An elongate torsion arm is secured at its ends to the motors for minimizing intrinsic movement of the motors.

摘要: An improvement in railway trucks having a flexible frame and independent drive mechanism particularly adapted to accommodate the flexing frame. The frame includes parallel first and second frame members, a first cross-member rigidly attached to the first frame member and loosely attached to the second frame member. A second cross-member is rigidly connected to the second frame member and loosely engaged by the first frame member. Hydraulic motors are pivotally connected to the second cross-member by pivotal arms and pivotally secured to a pair of rail way truck axles supporting the frame members such that flexion of the frames and cross-members will not affect the distance between the motor and the axles. Chain and sprocket assemblies are provided to operatively connect the motors and the axles. An engine and hydraulic pumps are connected to the first cross-member to drive the motors. The pumps are operatively connected to the motors with flexible conduit. The flexible conduit is particularly effective in accommodating relative movement between the motors and the pumps caused by the relative deflection between the various cross-members and frame members.

摘要: A drive apparatus which in first place is intended for moving vehicles comprises a transportable carriage which has two wheels (3) and a drive roller (2) driven my means of a motor. Spring elements (7) normally keep the drive roller (2) and the support wheels out of contact with each other but by load, for instance when the carriage is pushed in under a vehicle wheel (8) a friction contact is established between the drive roller (2) and the support wheels (3) causing the carriage to move upon rotation of the drive roller at the same time causing the vehicle to be moved and the wheels (8) thereof are rotated. The carriage further has a handle (6) which preferably houses cables, hoses or the like for power supply to the motor and which has control means (5) such as switches or the like.

摘要: An improved rail car moving vehicle adapted for travel alternately in one mode on rail wheels on a railway track and in an off-track mode on ground wheels, with weight transfer capabilities from a coupled railway car when in the on-rail mode, and characterized by improvements, including: a tricycle configuration of ground wheels provided by a pair of non-steerable, closely-spaced rear road wheels adapted to have frictional driving engagement with the driven axle of a rail wheel set and relatively widely-spaced steerable front ground wheels; a frame design that provides ample strength with respect to a bending or vertical load while having torsional rigidity not sufficient to normally cause one of the rail wheels to lift off from the track more than the radial dimension of its flange; a rear coupler assembly including a coupler carrier independently hinged to the vehicle frame for supporting a laterally swinging coupler independently pivoted to the frame at the inner end of the coupler arm; a pair of steerable road wheels spaced outboard of the vehicle frame and adjacent rail wheels and mounted on caster means supported from a pivot pipe with a tie rod interconnecting the steering levers; and, crank shafts mounted on opposite ends of a transverse-driven axle disposed above the axles of the front and rear rail wheel sets whereby side rods of inverted V configuration interconnecting the rail wheels with the crank arms on opposite ends of the driven axle, even in their lowest position, have adequate road bed and rail clearance and a final drive gear on the axle and a disc brake rotor mounted thereon can have relatively large diameters.

摘要: An interconnected series of in excess of twenty-five railroad cars may be shunted about a yard by attaching a vertically displaceable carriage of a forklift truck to the coupler of the first car in the series through a load bearing coupling adaptor and raising the forklift carriage until a sufficient portion of the weight of the railroad car is transferred to the driving wheels of the forklift to give the forklift sufficient traction to move the series of railroad cars.A load-bearing coupling adaptor suitable for such load-bearing attachment of railroad car coupler to fork-lift carriage may be fabricated from a means for rigidly mounting to the fork-lift truck, a coupling pin means for securingly engaging the coupler interiorly of said coupler, and a load-bearing member rigidly connecting the means for mounting to the coupling pin means and extending therebetween at a level beneath said coupler. Means for aligning the means for mounting with the carriage and means for aligning the coupling pin means interiorly of the coupler may also be provided.

摘要: A rail-car positioner comprises a carriage on a track running alongside and parallel to the train track and an elongate arm on the carriage is transversely displaceable to enter between a pair of coupled rail-cars of the train and connect the positioner drivingly to the train. The arm is extended substantially axially, from a retracted position on the carriage, in a preferably generally horizontal first direction to introduce an end of the arm between the pair of rail-cars, and said end is then engaged with the rail-cars' coupling by displacing it in a second direction transverse to the first direction.

摘要: Power attachment made to the lower portion of a rail car wheel, at the outer side thereof, to render a railway car selfpropellable bidirectionally. The structure includes a rollercarrying C-clamp which, from a side entry position relative to the car to be moved, draws in with a power clamping action against the tread of the wheel at that side so as to interpose first rollers between the jaws of the clamp and the wheel, and other rollers between the clamp and the rail beneath the car wheel. The structure also includes a power unit for bidirectionally driving the first rollers, for collapsing the Cclamp under power to partially support the wheel on the rail, and for bidirectionally driving a set of extendible ground transport wheels which are provided for the structure and which, when extended from a retracted position, render the attachment selfpropellable on the ground independently of the car and the rail. Primarily involved here are the feature of a generally upright stabilizer arm pivotally connected to the structure and having an upstanding, roller carrying portion of the arm pivotable by the arm into a stabilized, wheel-gripping contact at about axle height, and the feature of bidirectional power means selectively to pivot the arm into wheel-gripping contact and to return the arm to unpivoted position.
