    摘要: To provide for an easily replaceable attachment of a printing cylinder (11) on a shaft (12), the shaft is formed as a stub shaft with a flange (13) projecting therefrom, and a disk-shaped groove or recess or bore is formed in the end face (14) of the milling roller, into which the flange is fitted by an interference fit. In order to provide for ease of engagement of the interference fit, the flange and/or the end face of the roller is undercut by a groove spaced somewhat from the fitting engagement surfaces to form a resilient lip (16) which is subjected to the interference fit. The flange and the milling roller are connected by one or more clamping screws or bolts (18).

    摘要: A web-fed offset rotary printing machine is disclosed. First and second satellite printing units are utilized to perform multiple color recto and verso printing. The cylinder diameters and bearer ring diameters of the first satellite unit are capable of being varied with respect to those of the second unit to accurately control paper web tension and hence to accomplish a color registry which is highly accurate. Calibrated underlay sheets are used to adjust the cylinder diameters and thin, hard, flexible bands are secured on the outer peripheries of inner rings to vary the bearer ring diameters.

    摘要: A rotary printing press having first and second cylinders in rolling engagement, the first cylinder being rigid and the second cylinder being resiliently covered, both of the cylinders having a longitudinal groove defining a gap in the cylinder surface, the gaps being rotated in opposed synchronism with one another. The groove in the first cylinder defines leading and trailing end walls with the end walls terminating at lips at the cylinder surface, the lips on the end walls each having bead projections which extend longitudinally therealong and which project a small distance outwardly from the nominal radius dimension of the cylinder thereby causing the lip on the leading end wall of the first cylinder to engage the surface of the second cylinder earlier than it would in the absence of a bead and causing the lip on the trailing end wall to separate from the surface of the second cylinder later than it would in the absence of the bead thereby to extend the pressure build-up and pressure drop-off angles between the cylinders and to cause a more gradual build-up of pressure between them to the operating level as well as a more gradual decrease from the operating level.

    摘要: A rotary machine having a cylinder which runs in pressure relationship with a cooperating cylinder. At least one of the cylinders has an axially extending discontinuity in the periphery which periodically causes an interruption in the pressure between the cylinders with the discontinuity having a yieldable portion adjacent the discontinuity for effecting a more gradual pressure change. The yieldable portion is formed by undercutting the cylinder periphery with a recess to provide a cantilevered yieldable lip against the discontinuity. The recess is filled with shims to control the yieldability of the lip.
