    摘要： A telecommunication switching system is provided in which communication connections are set up in a time division multiplex (TDM) manner to convey intelligence by pulse code modulation (PCM). The system utilizes time assigned signal interpolation (TASI) techniques so that during a silent period in a communication connection the communicatees can be disconnected from the multiplex highway, and can be re-connected to said highway whenever a new burst of intelligence commences from either communicatee.

    摘要： A common time-shared speech detector that requires no per trunk detection circuitry is disclosed. The signal level on a trunk is applied to a common P.C.M. encoder in the time slot for the trunk and the resulting P.C.M. code is converted to digital threshold signals by a common digital threshold detector. Digital status and timing information for a plurality of speech lines are stored in circulating delay loops and processed in time sequence with common digital circuitry. Variable sensitivity is achieved by varying digital reference values for the lines which are also stored in circulating delay loops. Operate time, delay before hangover, and hangover are timed by multiplexed digital timing signals and varied in response to line activity signals to better accommodate talkers with different speech intensities. The output comprises time-slotted requests for connection or disconnection which can be used in a time assignment speech interpolation system.

    摘要： Queuing circuitry that utilizes two variable length queues is disclosed. Input signals exceeding a system''s capacity are queued in queue Q1 while inputs in queue Q2 are served by the system. When all of the inputs in queue Q2 have been served, the inputs in queue Q1 are transferred to queue Q2 where they are served while a new queue is formed in queue Q1. The length of the queues vary as a function of the input overload and the maximum length of either queue equals the maximum number of inputs that may be applied to the system.
