Abstract: A method for manufacturing a steel product includes providing a heated steel starting product at a temperature between 380° C. and 700° C., having a metastable fully austenitic structure, with a specified composition. Then the starting product is hot formed at a temperature between 700° C. and 380° C., with a cumulated strain εb between 0.1 and 0.7, in at least one location of the heated steel starting product, to obtain a fully austenitic hot-formed steel product; quenched by cooling the product down, at a cooling rate VR2 superior to the critical martensitic cooling rate, to a quenching temperature QT lower than Ms in order to obtain a structure containing between 40% and 90% of martensite, the rest of the structure being austenite; then maintained at, or reheated up to a holding temperature PT between QT and 470° C. and holding the product at the temperature PT for a duration Pt between 5 s and 600 s.

Abstract: A vacuum deposition facility is provided for continuously depositing on a running substrate coatings formed from metal alloys including a main element and at least one additional element. The facility includes a vacuum deposition chamber and a substrate running through the chamber. The facility also includes a vapor jet coater, an evaporation crucible for feeding the vapor jet coater with a vapor having the main element and the at least one additional element, a recharging furnace for feeding the evaporation crucible with the main element in molten state and maintaining a constant level of liquid in the evaporation crucible, and a feeding unit being fed with the at least one additional element in solid state for feeding the evaporation crucible with the at least one additional element either in molten state, in solid state or partially in solid state. A process is also provided.

Abstract: A method for producing a welded steel blank (1) includes providing two precoated sheets (2), each comprising a steel substrate (3) having a precoating (5) on each of its two main faces (4), each sheet (2) comprising, on each main face (4), at a weld edge (14), a removal zone (18) in which the precoating (5) is removed over a removal fraction; and butt welding the sheets (2) using a filler wire (20) so as to create a weld joint (22) having an aluminum content AlWJ comprised between 0.1 wt. % and 1.2 wt. %. The composition of the wire (20) and the proportion of wire (20) added is such that the weld joint (22) has: (a) a quenching factor FTWJ such that FTWJ−0.96FTBM≥0, (b) a nickel content NiWJ≤14−3.4×AlWJ and a chromium content CrWJ≤5−2×AlWJ, where AlWJ is the aluminum content of the weld joint (22).

The microstructure of the part includes, in a majority of the part, in surface fractions: less than 40% of bainite, less than 5% of austenite, less than 5% of ferrite, and a remainder being martensite. The martensite is fresh martensite and self-tempered martensite.
