    Abstract: An air drying unit for compressed air systems is provided. The air drying unit has a precooler/reheater, a main cooler and a moisture separator. Incoming air is cooled to cause moisture within the compressed air to condense, which is then separated to dry the compressed air. The precooler/reheater, main cooler and moisture separator are designed as an integral unit that does not require pipes to connect the components together. Instead, compressed air flows through the sealed unit through passages therein between the precooler/reheater, main cooler and moisture separator.

    Abstract: A filter system can include a replaceable filter cartridge having a spinner element structured to swirl a mixed flow of compressible fluid and oil, as well as an end cap used to enclose an open interior of a filter media of the filter cartridge. The filter cartridge can be configured to interface with and be supported by a mesh holder. A housing can be attached over the filter cartridge to enclose the system and create a flow path for a mixed flow of compressible fluid and oil. The replaceable filter cartridge can be constructed of materials suitable for disposal in a waste incineration process. The mesh holder can be inserted on a combo-block and secured in place by a compression fitting. A stand pipe can extend into the interior of the filter media and be coupled with a central passage of the mesh holder.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for management of material stresses present at transitions between facets of an anvil and the anvil shaft are described. In one aspect, an apparatus includes an impact tool anvil extending along an axis of extension and having a faceted drive end and a shaft body which is connected to the faceted drive end through a transition region that couples respective faces of the faceted drive end to the shaft body, the transition region including a sweeping radius surface having a first axial end and a second axial end, the first axial end connected to a respective face of the faceted drive end, the first axial end having a tangency with the respective face of the faceted drive end; and an angular transition having a slope that radially rises from the second axial end of the sweeping radius surface to the shaft body.

    Abstract: An impact tool is provided with vibration isolators to reduce vibrations felt by the operator gripping the handle of the tool. The impact tool has a hammer and an anvil that impact against each other during use. The impacts create undesirable vibrations in the tool housing and noise in the work area. The isolators are useful in minimizing such vibrations and noise.

    Abstract: A vacuum roots blower includes a rotor capable of being rotated to capture a gas from an inlet and further rotated to discharge the captured gas from an outlet. The captured gas is held within a pocket formed between lobes of the rotor and the adjacent housing within which the rotor is rotated. The vacuum roots blower includes a pressure relief system capable of delivering a pressure relief gas to the pocket. The pressure relief system includes a sonic passage structured to produce a choked flow condition as the pressure relief system fills the pocket with pressure relief gas. In one form the pressure relief gas can be a cooling gas, but other forms such as ambient air are also contemplated.

    Abstract: Illustrative embodiments of positive displacement pumps utilizing pressure compensating calibration, as well as related systems and methods, are disclosed. In one illustrative embodiment, a method of operating a positive displacement pump includes sensing, with a pressure sensor disposed at a fluid outlet of the positive displacement pump, a back pressure at the fluid outlet, transmitting a pressure signal associated with the sensed back pressure from the pressure sensor to a controller of the positive displacement pump, and identifying, on the controller, a volume of fluid pumped by the positive displacement pump using the pressure signal.
