Abstract: An electronic device displays a user interface object that corresponds to a first application. While displaying the user interface object, the device detects, via an input element, an input directed to the user interface object. In response: if the input meets an input threshold and includes less than a threshold amount of movement, the device generates a non-visual output corresponding to the input before detecting an end of the input, and after detecting an end of the input, displays a system user interface that includes information about the first application without displaying the first application; and, if the input does not meet the input threshold and includes less than the threshold amount of movement, the device forgoes generating a non-visual output corresponding to the input, and after detecting an end of the input, displays the first application on the display.

Abstract: A method for adjusting audio being outputted through a beam forming loudspeaker array. Program audio is rendered to drive the loudspeaker array to produce sound beams having i) a main content pattern that is aimed at a listener, superimposed with ii) several diffuse content patterns that are aimed away from the listener. In response to receiving an alert message that refers to alert audio, the portion of the program audio in the main pattern is moved into the diffuse patterns, and the alert audio is rendered to drive the loudspeaker array so that the portion of the program audio in the main pattern is replaced with the alert audio. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Abstract: An electronic device, while displaying first and second user interface representations on a display, detects an edge input by a first contact on a touch-sensitive surface that includes movement of the first contact across the touch-sensitive surface. In response to detecting termination of the edge input, in accordance with a determination that the first contact moved by more than a first threshold amount during the edge input in a direction across the touch-sensitive surface that corresponds to a first predefined direction on the display, the device displays a second user interface that corresponds to the second user interface representation; and in accordance with a determination that the first contact did not move by more than the first threshold amount during the edge input in a direction across the touch-sensitive surface that corresponds to the first predefined direction on the display, the device redisplays the first user interface.

Abstract: An electronic device selects content and moves selected content displayed on a touch screen display. Content of an electronic document is displayed, and a selection input corresponding to selection of a respective portion of the content (selected content) is detected. In response, the device concurrently displays the selected content with a changed appearance, to indicate the selection, and a set of options related to the selected content. In response to detecting a single touch input at a location over the selected content, if the single touch input remains, during a first portion of the single touch input, at the location for a predetermined amount of time, followed, during a second portion of the single touch input, by a continuous touch gesture away from the location, the representation of the selected content is moved to a different location in a direction of the continuous touch gesture.

Abstract: An electronic device receives an incoming communication and determines that the device is in a first use context. In response to receiving the incoming communication, the device provides first feedback that includes a first ongoing audio output that corresponds to the first use context and a first ongoing tactile output with a first tactile output profile that corresponds to the first use context. While providing the first ongoing audio output and the first ongoing tactile output, the device detects that the electronic device is in a second use context, different from the first use context. Abstract: A value of a display property of an affordance changes based a value of the same display property of the portion of content over which the affordance is displayed. The value of the display property of the affordance is constrained to vary within a second value range smaller than a first value range over which the value of the display property of the content is permitted to vary. Abstract: An electronic device displays a plurality of user interface representations in a stack on a display. The device detects a first drag gesture by a first contact at a location on a touch-sensitive surface that corresponds to a location of a first user interface representation on the display. Abstract: An electronic device has a home button that is available in a plurality of different contexts to dismiss user interfaces in response a first type of input. The device detects a first input of the first type directed to a displayed first user interface. In response, the device determines whether user interface tactile outputs are enabled. If so, the device performs a first operation and provides a corresponding first tactile output. If not, the device performs the first operation and forgoes providing at least a portion of the corresponding first tactile output. After performing the first operation, the device detects a second input of the first type on the home button. In response, the device performs a second operation that is associated with the home button and provides tactile output that is associated with activation of the home button, regardless of whether user interface tactile outputs are enabled.
