    Abstract: Systems and methods are provide to bring network capability awareness to steering of roaming (SoR). A home network includes a capabilities list of visited networks and their associated with the network capabilities. For SoR, he user equipment (UE) maintains a roaming partners list (RPL). The RPL provides a list of visited networks arranged in order of priority/preference (e.g., the first visited network in the RPL has first priority). The first visited network receives a registration request from the UE and relays a corresponding authentication request to the home network. The visited network in the RPL can be reordered when the UE requires a network capability not supported by the first visited network in the RPL, as indicated by the capabilities list. Depending on the implementation, the UE or the home network can make this decision to reorder the RPL.

    Abstract: Presented herein are techniques to facilitate providing slice attribute information to a user equipment (UE) for one or more slice types with which the user equipment is allowed to establish one or more session(s). In one example, a method may include obtaining, by a network element, a registration request for connection of a UE to a mobile network; performing an authentication for connection of the UE to the mobile network; and upon successful authentication, providing, by the network element, a registration response to the UE, wherein the registration response identifies one or more network slice types with which the UE is authorized to establish a session and the registration response identifies one of: attribute information for each of the one or more network slice types or network location information from which attribute information for each of the one or more network slice types is to be obtained.

    Abstract: A mobile network is operative to perform a quota validation procedure in relation to a maximum number of user equipments (UEs) permitted in a network slice. In one illustrative example, a control plane (CP) function of the mobile network may receive, from the UE, a message which indicates a registration request for registration and includes a slice ID of the network slice. The CP function may manage a registration procedure for assigning resources of the network slice to the UE. The CP function may alternatively manage the registration procedure to refrain from assigning the resources of the network slice to the UE, at least for a delay time period, based on identifying that an indication of the UE indicates an expected delay in use of service in the network slice. The indication may be included in the message and indicate the delay time period of the expected delay.

    Abstract: A system and method for dynamic enablement of a RLC mode of a Data Radio Bearer (DRB) based on UE radiofrequency (RF) conditions. A threshold value for a network characteristic is provided to a gNodeB. Changes in the network characteristic correlates to changes in RF channel conditions of the UE. The trigger configures the gNodeB to identify when the network characteristic meets the threshold value for selectively controlling operation of the gNodeB at one of a plurality of different operation modes including an initial radio link control (RLC) mode based on the network characteristic. A Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session is established with the gNodeB operating in an initial RLC mode with the possibility to dynamically switch to a different RLC mode based on RF channel conditions.
