    摘要: A method and system for transmitting uncompressed video over a wireless channel by inputting a frame of pixel information, partitioning spatially correlated pixels into different packets, and transmitting the packets separately over a wireless channel. For robust transmission, error detection data can be generated for each packet and appended to each packet before transmission. A receiver receives the transmitted packets and checks if a received packet is corrupt based on the appended error detection data. For a corrupt packet, the receiver corrects the corrupt pixels using pixel information in other received packets containing neighboring pixels to recover each corrupt pixel in the corrupt packet.

Video information bits are placed into multiple data packets, and transmitted in a burst sequence from a sender to a receiver over a wireless channel in a first time frame. Transmission of each data packet is separated from transmission of the next data packet by an inter-frame time period which is shortened by a channel switching duration. Then, selected video information bits are retransmitted to from the sender to the receiver in a second time frame.

The device discovery involves directionally transmitting a data unit from a transmitting station over a channel in different directions to emulate omni-directional transmission, receiving the data unit transmissions from different directions at a receiving station, determining the quality of the transmissions received from the different directions, and detecting location information for the transmitting station relative to the receiving station based on the highest quality transmission among the transmissions received from the different directions. Further, if a channel has sufficient bandwidth to satisfy direct link communication between two stations, then during a direct link set-up stage, the two stations conduct a probing message exchange using omni-direction transmission, and upon successful probing, obtain communication link status information and set proper communication configurations for the two stations based on the communication link status information.

    摘要: A system and method for performing medium access control in a system for wireless communication of uncompressed video is disclosed. In one aspect, the method includes communicating a control initiation request message during a contention based period of a superframe period. The control initiation request message contains information allowing a device coordinator to determine a reserved time slot for communication of the requested message exchange. The requested message exchange is then performed in a non-contentious environment, thereby limiting collisions of contention based messages. The control initiation procedure and subsequent message exchanges take place on a low-rate channel. Transmission on the low-rate channel is time division duplexed with a high-rate channel, where transmission at any one time can take place on either the high-rate or the low-rate channel.

The low-rate channel has a directional mode and an omni-directional mode. The acknowledgment signal includes a low-rate physical layer (LRP) preamble and an acknowledgment (ACK) header including a mode index field. The mode index field includes a plurality of bits indicative of whether the ACK signal is transmitted using the directional mode or the omni-directional mode.

The video information includes pixels, each having a plurality of components and each component including video information bits that are placed in sub-packets within a packet.
