摘要: There is provided a method for providing edge node (110) fault management and bandwidth, (BW), control for transmission of a data stream in a packet-based network. The method comprises adaptively transmitting a data stream (DS) by controlling an outgoing data stream being transmitted to one or more client devices (151, 152, 153) by analyzing at least one data stream characteristics of a corresponding received data stream (DS1, DS2, DS3) of the one or more receiving client devices (151, 152, 153), and providing a transmission strategy for the outgoing data stream based on said analyzed data stream characteristics. Thereby accurate adjustment of consumed (BW) and an associated recovery scheme, i.e. FEC and/or retransmission, to maintain highest achievable performance when it comes to video quality and also affect on other services, are provided.

摘要: Systems and methods for error detection in video data is described. An encoding computing system can receive a video frame. The encoding computing system can encode and decode the video frame based on an encoding scheme. The encoding computing system can generate a frame error detection code for the decoded video frame based on an error detection code generation scheme. The encoding computing system can send the encoded video frame and the error detection code to a decoding computing system. The decoding computing system can decode the encoded video frame and generate a second error detection code using the code generation scheme. The decoding computing system can detect that the decoded video frame is corrupted by comparing the error detection code and the second error detection code.

摘要: The method for storing streaming media includes receiving, from a user device, a request to navigate to a requested time of a media stream. The method also includes determining whether a block of media segments that have a time interval that overlaps with the requested time is stored at the server. The method also includes retrieving the block of media segments from long-term memory in accordance with a determination that the block of media segments is not stored at the server. The method also includes traversing the block of media segments that have a time interval that overlaps with the requested time of the media stream to seek and identify a media segment corresponding to the requested time of the media stream. The method also includes streaming a media stream to the user device that begins at the media segment corresponding to the requested time of the media stream.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for improving the reliability and the reception quality of video data streams over a wireless network controlled by Wi-Fi communication protocols, the video data stream being encoded in the form of packets Q each including K first data blocks and H redundancy blocks for forward error correction (FEC), said stream comprising a series of packets G each including K+N blocks which are transmitted by at least one transmitting device multicasting same to client viewing devices such as smartphones. Said method includes the following steps, implemented by the client device for each of the data packets G received from the one or more transmitting devices: a/ monitoring the correct reception of the K first data blocks, decoding and viewing the video stream if the result is positive; b/ if all of the K first data blocks are not received, decoding if possible by means of a forward error correction (FEC) algorithm; c/ if the total number X of K+N blocks received is lower than K or if a positive result is not obtained from the preceding decoding step, sending a message regarding the one or more lost blocks; d/ if a statistical algorithm of the transmitting device organises the resending of the missing data, checking reception of data according to a/ and b/, decoding and viewing the video stream if the result is positive.

The method includes recording the first feed that is received at the first time to be used at least partially as a playback of the second feed at the second time. The second time has a predetermined delay relative to the first time. The method includes determining whether the first feed has a discrepancy in the actual playback from a desired playback. The discrepancy is at a known time and lasting a known time amount. The method includes transmitting the playback to the second feed after the predetermined delay. A fix is aired instead of the playback for the known time amount corresponding to the discrepancy.

While receiving the first content stream, the method includes receiving, at the media device, a second content stream via a terrestrial distribution system. The second content stream includes second media content corresponding to an audio portion of the first media content. The method also includes sending the first media content to a display device and detecting a disruption of the first content stream. The method further includes, after detecting the disruption, sending the second media content to an audio output device associated with or included within the display device.

In one embodiment, the network comprises a cable network, and the infrastructure comprises that nominally used for on-demand (OD) services such as VOD. The method includes the allocation of dedicated end-to-end network resources via a “session request, as well as data flow control and packet size adaptation, by a data server based on feedback from the requesting/receiving client device (e.g., DSTB) within the network. Mechanisms for retransmission requests for error recovery are also provided.
