    Abstract: Video coding and decoding methods are described. An example method includes determining, based on an applicability rule, that a differential coding mode is applicable to a conversion between a chroma video block of a video and a bitstream representation of the chroma video block, and performing, based on the determining, the conversion between the chroma video block and the bitstream representation of the chroma video block using the differential coding mode, where the chroma video block is represented in the bitstream representation using a difference between a quantized residual of an intra prediction of the chroma video block and a prediction of the quantized residual in the differential coding mode, where the intra prediction is performed in a first direction and the prediction of the quantized residual is performed in a second direction, and where the difference is represented using a differential pulse coding modulation (DPCM) representation.

    Abstract: Transform parameter derivation based on block partition is described. In an exemplary aspect, a method for video processing includes determining, for a conversion between a first block of video and a bitstream representation of the first block of video, whether a use of non-power-of-two partition trees (NPT-T) is enabled or disabled, wherein the NPT-T includes splitting the first block to multiple smaller sized child blocks of the first block, and at least one child block's width and/or height have a dimension that is a non-power-of-two integer; and performing the conversion based on the NPT-T in response to the determination that the NPT-T is enabled.

In an exemplary aspect, a method for video processing includes determining, for a conversion between a video and a bitstream representation of the video, whether non-power-of-two partition trees (NPT-T) partition is enabled or disabled, wherein the NPT-T partition include splitting a first block of the video into multiple smaller sized child blocks of the first block, and width (Wi) and/or height (Hi) of at least one child block is a non-power-of-two integer; determining restrictions associated with usage of the NPT-T partition in response to the determination that the NPT-T partition is allowed; and performing the conversion based on the determinations.

A method for processing video includes: determining, during a conversion between a first block in a video data and a bitstream representation of the first block, one or more coded modes of one or more second blocks; determining, based on the one or more coded modes of the one or more second blocks, a coded mode constraint of the first block; and performing, at least by applying the coded mode constraint of the first block, the conversion; wherein the one or more second blocks comprise at least one of an adjacent block, a non-adjacent block, and a reference block of the first block.
