Then, after the elapse of 30 seconds from the start of time measurement by the timer 37, ssdp:alive is sent to the PCs 2 (T615). Even if a paper size related setting change (T607) or multiple page printing (condensed printing) setting change (T609) is made during this 30-second interval, ssdp:alive is not sent to the PCs 2 for those changes executed during the 30-second interval.

摘要： In a printing system, before transmitting print data to a printer, a personal computer transmits a virtual printing start command to the printer. When the data received by the printer is a virtual printing start command, the printer performs a virtual printing operation until the printer receives a virtual printing end command from the personal computer. At the virtual printing operation, procedures are similar to those of an actual printing operation. However, at the virtual printing operation, sheets are not conveyed nor is a developing agent, such as ink and toner, adhered to the sheets by a printing unit. For example, the received print data is developed into a memory as an image data. When an error occurs during the virtual printing operation, the printer provides error information to the personal computer. Then, the personal computer displays the error information via a dialog box to a user.

A dialog box is displayed and a user entry is made as to whether transmission is permitted or not. When transmission is rejected by the user, a notice of the rejection of transmission is given to the scanner. When transmission is permitted by the user, the application software is started and a notice of the permission of transmission is given to the scanner. Then, image data is received from the scanner and processed by the started application software.

摘要： There is provided a communication device which has a first communication system that communicates with an external telephone device and a second communication system that communicates with an external computer. The communication device comprises a call unit and a data acquisition unit. The call unit makes a call to a telephone device designated by a user using the first communication system. If a destination of the call unit is decided by the user's designation, a data acquisition unit obtains data corresponding to the destination telephone device using the second communication system. By only making a call operation, the user can obtain the data corresponding to the destination telephone device from the communication device through the computer network which is a different kind of network from the telephone line network. That is, the communication device can reduce user's operations to access related devices over various kinds of networks.
