    摘要: Disclosed is a photographic element comprising a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a “NB coupler” having the formula (I): wherein: the term “NB coupler” represents a coupler of formula (I) that forms a dye for which the left bandwidth (LBW) using spin-coating is at least 5 nm less than that of the same dye in solution form; Y is H or a coupling-off group; each Z* is an independently selected substituent group where p is 0 to 2; V is a substituent group containing a sulfone group; R4 is represented by the formula wherein each of R5, R6 and R7 is hydrogen or an independently selected substituent with no more than one being hydrogen; provided that two or more of R5, R6 and R7 may join to form a ring or rings and provided that the combined sum of the aliphatic carbon atoms in V, R4 and all Z* is at least 8, and provided further that R4 is not a fully fluorinated alkyl group. Such elements provide improved hue.

    摘要: A method of forming a washout photographic coupler comprising a coupler moiety (COUP) containing a substituted or unsubstituted ballasted releasing group (A) selected from aryloxy, thioaryloxy, heterocyclicoxy, and thioheterocyclicoxy releasing groups having attached thereto a phenoxy timing group containing a photographically useful group (PUG), the releasing group capable of intramolecular displacement to release the timing group, the method comprising:(a) providing a coupler moiety (COUP) having the releasing group (A) in a coupling off position, the releasing group (A) having a 2 position containing a carbamyl chloride;(b) reacting the carbamyl chloride with a phenoxy timing group having an amine blocked with a carbamate group, the reacting being carried out in the presence of a base to form a first product;(c) removing the carbamate group using an acid to provide a coupler moiety (COUP) having a releasing group (A) and phenoxy timing group having an amine group; and(d) reacting the amine group to form a carbamyl chloride on the phenoxy timing group before reacting with a photographically useful group to form the washout coupler.

    摘要: The invention provides an OLED device including a cathode, an anode, and having there between a light-emitting layer, further including, between the cathode and the light emitting layer, a first layer containing a fluoranthene compound including one and only one fluoranthene nucleus and having no aromatic rings annulated to the fluoranthene nucleus, the fluoranthene nucleus having independently selected aromatic groups in the 7,10-positions and an azine group in the 8- or 9-position, provided that the azine group is not a phenanthroline group. The OLED device desirably includes a second layer containing an alkali metal or alkali metal compound, located between the cathode and the first layer. The OLED device can also include a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon compound in the first layer or in a third layer located between the first layer and the light-emitting layer. Devices of the invention provide improvement in features such as efficiency and drive voltage.
