摘要: When conveying tables for conveying the printing medium are selected to perform interlace printing, the occurrence of unevenness in an image which results from switching of the tables is prevented. It is determined whether a phase of the conveying table is a transfer inhibition phase in transfer to a printing area. In the case of the transfer inhibition phase, the switching is not made to a new table, but the previously used table is used. Thus, the switching can be made to a conveying table so as not to make a shift amount +1/2N or −1/N continue. Consequently, it is possible to prevent the occurrence of unevenness in an image which is caused by 1/N deviation of a printing position in a sub-scanning direction with regard to print data at the time of transfer from a rear end area to the normal area or the normal area to the rear end area.

摘要: A printing apparatus receives, from a host apparatus, print data, and block size information of a block which is generated on the basis of the main scanning printing width and ensured in a print buffer. A block corresponding to the received block size information is ensured in the print buffer, and the print data is stored in the print buffer. The CPU of the printing apparatus controls printing by the printhead on the basis of the print data stored in the print buffer.

摘要: In an inkjet printing apparatus utilizing an inkjet head and an ink tank for supplying ink to the same, it is made possible to suppress any reduction in image quality attributable to changes in physical and chemical properties of the ink that occur during an elapsed time from the manufacture of the ink tank to the use of the same, thereby allowing images to be formed with high reliability and stability at a low running cost. The apparatus has a discharging unit for discharging the ink through a nozzle at the head and an ink detecting unit for detecting the consumption of the ink in the ink tank. The detected ink consumption is compared with a threshold for ink consumption appropriately determined based on the elapsed time, and control is performed such that the amount discharged by the discharging unit is increased when the ink has not been consumed sufficiently.

摘要: In a printing apparatus using a printhead having an array of printing elements in which a plurality of printing elements are arranged in a predetermined direction, the printing apparatus performing printing by scanning the printhead over a printing medium in a direction crossing to the predetermined direction on the basis of information transmitted from a host apparatus, print data transmitted from the host apparatus is stored in a buffer, printing by the scanning is started when the print data stored in the buffer reaches a first amount that is smaller than an amount of print data to be printed on the printing medium by the printhead by one scanning, the scanning is interrupted when storage of the print data in the buffer is delayed during the scanning, and when, after the interruption, subsequent print data stored in the buffer reaches a second amount, the interrupted scanning is executed to complete printing by one scanning. Accordingly, with an inexpensive arrangement having a memory whose capacity is smaller than the data amount to be printed by one main scanning, interruption of printing/scanning can be suppressed, and even when printing/scanning is interrupted halfway, high-quality printing can be performed.

摘要: Printing of a unit pixel (1/D=1/600) in 4-pass printing (64 nozzles, and a total sheet supply amount of 62/600 in four operations) is exemplified in an image printing apparatus capable of printing a uniform, high-quality image while avoiding printing of a visually nonuniform image in multipass printing of two or more passes. With an image printing apparatus as described herein, satellites can be uniformly printed on the right and left of a unit pixel.

摘要: A printing apparatus which prevents discharge failure due to residual bubbles generated in accordance with a printing history of past printing such as the number of printing pulses, the printing and the printing area, and a precipitate from ink, in each ink type, and/or due to residual bubbles coalesced into larger bubbles after the completion of printing and a precipitate from ink, and which enables excellent image printing without unnecessarily increasing ink consumption and without reduction of the printing speed. A CPU 600 measures a driving state of a printhead per unit period, e.g., the number of driving pulses to all the discharge orifices and the driving interval of the printhead. When the printing has been completed, the CPU calculates the number of driving pulses per unit period, and if the calculated value is greater than an allowable value, it performs discharge recovery processing on the printhead.

摘要: It is checked whether an ink used in a printhead has a high density. The type of a printing medium used for a print operation is also identified. An image is printed by scanning the printhead once or a plurality of times. When a print operation is to be performed by using a thick ink, an image is printed by using mask data and the driving frequency of the head which are set for the thick ink. When a print operation is to be performed by using a thin ink, an image is printed by using mask data and the driving frequency of the head which are set for the thin ink and the type of printing medium used for the print operation. Codes of the respective color data of print data are determined in accordance with the types of inks used for a print operation, and an image is printed by printing a plurality of dots or dots in an overlapping state by the multi-pass method.
