摘要： A router including a base for supporting the router on a work piece surface, a motor housing supported by the base, and a motor supported by the housing and operable to drive a tool element. The router also includes a hand grip attachable to one of the base and the housing. The hand grip may be contoured to fit a hand of an operator and may be at least partially formed of an elastomeric material. The router may also include a fixing assembly for fixing the housing in a position relative to the base, the fixing assembly including a clamping member for applying a clamping force to the housing to fix the housing in a position relative to the base, and an actuator for moving the clamping member. The router may also include an adjustment mechanism for adjusting the position of the housing relative to the base, the adjustment mechanism including a coarse adjustment assembly for making relatively large changes in the position of the housing, and a fine adjustment assembly for making relatively small changes to the position of the housing. The adjustment mechanism may be operated when the router is supported in an inverted position below a work table. A router case having a removable molded base plate may be provided to support the router on a surface.

摘要： A device for cutting a workpiece by means of a rotatingly driven tool bit has a suction hood surrounding the tool bit in annular manner with a through-opening for the tool bit to pass through. The suction hood forms a suction duct open to the tool bit which is limited by an outer wall. At least a part of the outer wall is curved in a perpendicular plane in the form of a parabola, and the focal point of the parabola lies beneath the workpiece engagement surface formed by the suction hood. Because of this parabola shape, chips thrown by the tool bit against the outer wall are reflected essentially parallel to the workpiece engagement surface and thus do not escape up through the through-opening.

摘要： Improvements made to a router relate to a fine adjust depth stop system. The preferred router comprises a micro-adjust knob coupled to a threaded member within one of a plurality of plunge guide posts. A depth stop nut is coupled to the treaded member such that the nut travels up and down the threaded member as the mirco-adjust knob is rotated. The location of the nut within the plunge guide post defined a depth stop position for the motor housing relative to a router base. When the motor housing is located at the depth stop position, the stop point, and thus the motor housing, will move up and down relative to the base as the micro-adjust knob is rotated.

摘要： Improvements made to a router relate to ergonomic router handles. The preferred router handles are generally elliptical in shape and have one end narrower than the other end. The handles are shaped to provide an operator an infinite number of angles to which the operator's hand may effectively grip the handles. Additionally the handles provide an outer surface which provides a flat tactile grip area. The combination of these elements, along with the shape and location of the preferred trigger and locking arm switch used to activate the preferred router, provides an operator, while operating the router, with the ability to find and use a handle-holding position which is comfortable for the individual user for holding the handles.

A cylindrical motor housing is telescopingly received within the cylindrical base member; the motor housing includes three vertically aligned notches. A vertically disposed rod is rotatably mounted by the cylindrical base member. The rod includes an external threaded area in threading engagement with a threaded bore in a lever. The lever includes a latch for engagement with a selected one of the notches for coarse vertical adjustment. Fine vertical adjustment is obtained by rotating the rod with the latch in engagement with one of the notches.

摘要： A kit for converting a standard router into a saw comprises a rectangular base plate having a through hole in one side thereof. The router may be mounted on the base plate above the hole and when so mounted preferably has one of its handles sticking out over an adjacent transverse edge of the base plate. A D-handle is fixed on the base plate extending perpendicular relative to the transverse edge and parallel to a longitudinal edge of the base plate. The D-handle is not directly connected to the router but is simply affixed to the base plate adjacent the router. The D-handle can be gripped by one hand of the user, and the router handle that sticks out over the transverse edge of the base plate can be gripped by the other hand of the user, and the combined structure can be pushed much like a circular saw with the revolving cutter of the router making an elongated saw cut. Either longitudinal edge of the base plate functions as a guide edge that can be abutted against a fixed guide surface during a sawing operation.

摘要： A plunge router constructed for mounting beneath a work table has a base adapted to be connected to a work table and defining a central opening, a router head assembly comprising a drive motor, a drive shaft, a collet and a housing, a plunge guide assembly supporting the router head assembly for movement toward and away from the base, a retracted position adjusting mechanism coacting between the base and the head assembly for blocking movement of the head assembly to a first default position from a second, adjusted retracted position and comprising a threaded force transmitting member fixed to the base and projecting toward the head assembly, an abutment element projecting from the head assembly transverse to the direction of extent of the threaded member and an adjustment member threaded to the force transmitting member and engagable with the abutment element to adjustably change the head assembly second retracted position. The head assembly also includes a second head assembly abutment element. The plunge router of the present invention further comprises a precision adjustment mechanism for moving the head assembly a precise distance from the second position to precisely position a router bit relative to the base opening. The adjustment mechanism comprises a first positioner fixed to the base and extending to the second abutment element, a second positioner engaging the second abutment element and the first positioner and a drive transmission coupling the first and second positioners. The drive transmission operates to shift the second positioner along the first positioner to change the distance between the base and the second abutment element. The second positioner comprises a manually actuatable structure disposed remote from the second abutment element and operating the drive transmission to incrementally shift the head assembly for precisely positioning a router bit.

摘要： A router table assembly utilizing a steel plate table top penetrated by a stepped opening having slightly non-concentric round holes. A table top insert is received in the stepped opening, which insert is a round plastic disk having a ledge formed by a disk portion of smaller diameter which matches the smaller hole in the top and which smaller disk portion is slightly offset from the layer diameter portion. The disk is positioned in the top opening and is rotated approximately one-fourth revolution until the cam-like action of the non-concentric portion locks the disk in place. Jaw-like router base clamp mechanisms have plates adjustable to the size and shape of numerous router bases and can be positioned once, after which the router can be removed and remounted in exactly the same position if assured centricity in the table top.
